This local small bottle shop near Old Street tube station has a selection of around 50 to 100 different bottles of beer, mostly in fridges, from London small breweries such as Kernel, Redchurch, Beavertown to imports from the US, Japan, Australia etc..

City Beverage has been taken over by another business, so I’m not too sure how relevant previous reviews of this place are. I stopped in on a Sunday afternoon to pick up some locals and left empty handed. It seems like the selection’s really taken a hit. Only a couple of core offerings from Bevertown (Gamma Ray etc) represented London. The rest of the very small (less than 30 unique beers) selection was a weird hodge podge of international stuff that wasn’t particularly appealing. Strangely, there was only 1 beer from the US in stock, and it was Drake’s Denogginizer (I can’t imagine how old it probably was). Either this place is really winding down their beer selection, or they’re in a transition period. Time will tell...

Pretty decent shop. Wine being their focus but beer is quite decent. Nothing crazy good in there but some solid choices as well as few beers which I haven’t seen around London yet. Quite a good range of British beers. Didn’t get any service. Value for money. Awesome to see a cigar area

Not a mega mega selection but it’s all good. Lots of Kernel, and at the moment they have 3 or 4 Bear Republic beers, plus in the fridge there is Chimay, a gueuze of some kind and others. Nice vibe, friendly people and lot of spirits also.

A nice shop with an alright selection of beers. As other people have mentioned - good for Kernel. Staff are friendly and helpful - they certainly know their wine and the senior guys know about the beer as well. Worth going in if you are in the area!

If you dare venture East this place is well worth a stop. CBC is a decent sized liquor shop that has a wide range of wine, champagne and spirits. The beer is located opposite the till. The highlight of the range is a pretty large (8 last time I was there) Kernel selection, as well as Redchurch, Brewdog, Oakham and Powerhouse. The guys that work there are friendly, but not particularly knowledgeable about beer. Worth a visit for Kernel range alone!

Surprised to find this place. Real gem in east london. Not a massive amount of beers but what they have is mostly microbreweries so great quality stuff. Also lots good wines. Well this is more of a wineshop.

A solid bottle shop. The wine selection is clearly their focus but they do stock a number of nice beers, especially from The Kernel and Pitfield. The last few times I’ve been in here they’ve had around five to ten different beers from The Kernel - very convenient if you can’t get down to the brewery on Saturdays. CBC also has some interesting American beers, a handful of Belgians, and some other British stuff. The staff is pretty average I guess and the store itself is just fine. Definitely worth stopping in here to see what’s in stock.

If you find yourself in shoreditch, in need of proper beer, this is the spot. One of the few retail places that stocks the full range of Pitfields Ales. Has a decent rotating selection of belgians and british ales as well as some american craft beer (on my last they had the flying dog IPA and goose island IPA). In light of that I’m willing to forgive the fact that about 2/3s of the place is full of wine. Nice array of snacks and sundries as well.
