If your in Southampton this small but well stocked bottle shop in a residential area is well worth a visit with a great selection of bottled beers from Hampshire & further afield.

Visited on 25th Oct 2018 before joining a cruise ship. Went onto their website and selected eight beers to buy. Only five available on the day. Was in a bit of a hurry so didn't really have time to have a good look around and asked them to find my beer list, which one of them did. Small shop with plenty of interesting beers (not cheap though), could have spent hours in there but we were on a mission. Well worth finding if in that part of the world, I will defo re-visit if I venture back to Southampton again. Re-visited on 11th June 2022, again before joining a cruise ship, bit more time to browse on this occasion. Like the place.

wonderful place with a little something of everything from everywhere. A bit of a stretch to get there but worth it. Seems to be very popular with traders and tickers.

Moze i ciasno ale dojsc mozna niemal wszedzie, osobne zaplecze na wielki wybor piw Belgijskich i nawet tych bardziej prestizowych, ogrom craftu z UK, Schlenkerla z Frasnkonii, Celebrator od Ayingera, De Molen, Stone, Anchor, Siren, Evil Twin, sporo rodzajow Hitachino Nest and Many more. Nawet craft z Hiszpanii. Ceny sa OK, mila obsluga, Ksiazka najnowsza edycja "The English Pup Guide" no i kartonik na skraju lady z mnostwem roznych wafelkow. I nie tylko sa z lokalnych browarow al np podstawki rzemieslniczych ze Stanow. Obowiazkowy przystanek w tej miejscowosci dla fana piwnego craftu i nie tylko.

My favourite beer shop. I have learnt so much, thanks to Chris & Ann at Bitter Virtue. Their stock of American and Belgian beers is superb.

Quaint bottleshop in a residential area run by a couple for around two decades. Very decent and varied range, the 'go to' bottleshop in the area.

Amazing shop which i never would have found but thanks to Ratebeer i did! The owners are very friendly, advised me on several beers. I was mainly interested in beers from the UK. Amazing selection. However the place was filled with beers from all over. Even some nice whales. Now i have to ’surprise’ my wife again when i make a detour and park my car in front of the door for a second beer run.

Visited on Friday afternoon on the way to Eden Project with my family. Quite small shop with great selection of beers from mostly Europe, USA and some others including Japan exclusive mass products and of course great UK selection including limited ones. Also two local casks on tap for take away. Prices are quite affortable. Nice couple (probably) runs the business, know what they are selling, very helpful and proud of the local breweries. I’ve found lots of new beers from my favorite breweries and some long time not seen ones which I’ve missed and gave it up to find them. For example Brewdog Abstrakt 8, which was a bit expensive and as I was a bit short of money I wanted to leave it there but at the end I’ve got it as a gift. Very nice gesture, many thanks!

My first visit to Bitter Virtue was long overdue. We stopped past the shop on drive from London to Dorset. It is located on an unassuming residential street with plenty of parking around. They open at 10:30am on a Sunday which suited us perfectly. Inside is stuffed full of a wide array of beers ranging from local to international. For a relatively compact shop it packs a punch. Loads of stuff that we either don’t see in London or beers that don’t hang around on the shelf for long. Staff/owners were very friendly and pretty knowledgeable. Hard to go wrong with this place. Deserves its space on the top echelon of beer shops in the UK.
