72 I will freely admit that my score is tainted by the many many nights I spent here in college. Typical Irish pub in most regards, especially in terms of atmosphere and food. Service has always been excellent in my eyes. Having graduated 10 years ago, the bartenders that remain from my time at SU still remember me, making this sort of like my Cheers. Selection is large for a college bar but it’s mostly imports. Place definitely gets crowded before and after games. Flip Night remains one of the great drink specials of all time. Not the greatest beer bar in the world but still one of my favorite places on earth. |
72 This place gets insane before/after SU football and basketball games. Very limited bar space, and very limited table space at the bar. The seating for dining looks plentiful, but on certain nights the limited space can be a bear.
The visibility of the chalkboard is very good, and the selection is very very solid for a bar on the Hill. A good way point while in that area. |
68 Crowd seems like mostly grad students, some locals, and some frat kids. Ton of taps...~50...Good local selection, but too much ’fluff’ (bud, guiness, hoegarden, heineken)...but hey it’s a block from ’cuse. Some Syranac, Brooklyn (chocolate!), Southern Tier, Lagunitas, Oskar Blues, Harpoon, etc. |
38 cool pub like atmosphere the beer selection is decent for a college bar but the service is terrible. Also they NEVER clean their tap lines and it shows in the taste of the beers immediately. There are some complete pricks working here. All older guys who think they are super cool and can’t move on from their college days 25 years ago. the food is all pre frozen and then thawed out and served. nothing special at all |
40 Really the only thing worth mentioning about this place is the fact that they have the best selection of beer within walking distance to campus. Now that’s not saying much if you’re familiar with the quality of beers sold within spitting distance of most any college campus. They do not really rotate any of their beers, but they do have a couple of decent brews. Lagunitas IPA, Middle Ages Wailing Wench, Southern Tier IPA maybe a couple of other decent micros. But that’s about it.The food is not bad. I come here for lunch in between classes some times. |
54 Dec. 17, 2006. A Syracuse U. alum, I "rediscovered" this place while in town for a business meeting recently, and was pleasantly surprised to find the wide selection of brews on tap. Service was adequate, if not particuarlly friendly -- ah, just like I remembered it from the ’80s. ;-) Will definitely stop again for a pint when in the Marshall Street area. |
46 This is another decent tap room. There are a good 45-50 taps on here and a lot of the stuff is &quo;diferent&quo;. Not the selection or the rarity of MacGregor’s or the Blue Tusk, but they have good micro beers here nonetheless. |
