72 I usually just pop in here for a quick Rittmayer Smokey George, the only place I can seem to get this excellent beer in Nürnberg. Other than that they have quite a decent beer selection. Not very much room here to begin with, which is usually exacerbated by the amount of people in the evenings and the somewhat cluttered nature of the decor, but that just adds to the charm of the place. Food looks very hearty and the service is friendly, though not always very prompt, which is forgivable. Definitely the best bar in Nürnberg. |
96 i can’t believe it took me half a dozen trips to nuremburg before i got around to visiting hutt’n. anyways, cozy, bavarian, all beers in great shape, a real delight |
88 Ah, what a unique and awesome find in Germany -- an honest-to-God beer bar with variety! This is why I love the Places listings on RB -- how else would I have found this gem? Huett’n is a tiny, hole-in-the-wall kinda place, not far at all from the Burg or Altstadthof, up the hill from the central square. We arrived quite early in the dinner hour and there were no tables available. Thankfully, there was at least a little bar space available where we could sample some of the 6 draft beers from small regional breweries -- we opted for a schwarzbier, a vollbier, a "Leichtes Landbier" and a kellerbier -- some better than others, but all would’ve been otherwise unavailable to us absent seeking out the four different breweries from which they came. We didn’t eat, but the menu seemed to offer several savory options, and the place smelled amazing. Highly recommend making reservations or going at an off-peak time, but a must-stop in Nuernberg! |
84 Nice little bar in Nurnberg! Like all the reviews said before, it gets packed early - we were there at 2 pm and had to share a table just to be seated! Nice selection of rotating beers and the potato salad is excellent! |
82 Tiny restaurant/bar serving exclusively franconian brews. 50 persons maximum can sit and it is extremely popular, so arrive early. Service was slow as there was only 2 employees for the whole restaurant that was completely packed. Food looked amazing but I didn’t eat. Must come back for sure. |
86 If strapped for time, forgo Altstadthof (unless you want flabby, limp, and generally uninteresting beer, though I gladly admit the ambiance is quite tasteful and cozy) and spend some quality time here sampling a fine assemblage of some of Franconia’s finest. My friend and I arrived about an hour before closing time, and Gerhardt (the publican) was very accommodating and openly talkative. The interior of the place is as choice as you’re gonna find, and the fact that you can savor eight or ten Franconian beauties vom fass, in such a warm and inviting atmosphere, is just plain special. And as a bonus, as one staggers out of the place, he/she is treated to some of the city’s greatest ornaments-- gothic and antique cathedrals as you tread foot on the neat cobblestone. Now, to be as objective as possible: as a local, one might tire of the "same old" Franconian monotony, but as an infrequent visitor of this fair town, if you are like me you will likely find yourself in a state of nirvana as the first glass of nectar reaches your table. Whatever you do, request the Gutmann Weizenbock (usually only available in bottle) and thank me later. :-) |
80 A great pub with a great list of beers. A most stop when here in Nurnberg. |
78 good place. Nice decor. Interesting beer selection from lots of interesting breweries |
86 Hands down the best beer pub in the old city. They have a great selection of Franconian beers. The food and service are both quite good as well. This place has a lot of history as well. A must stop when in town! |
82 Knowledgeable staff has respect for local brews and a finger on the pulse of Franconian beer. This is the place to go to find out about current beer events that might be taking place in the region (festivals etc). They maintain a thoughtful variety of Franconian beers including rarer ones. Staff is usually very good about volunteering information about beers or local goings-on. An essential first stop when in town. |
