64 This place has been tarted up over the years, it was more 'spit & sawdust' back in the day. Nothing too spectacular available when I visited but nice to go back to an old haunt. |
70 Visited 4/10/2019. Last stop on way back to train station. Comfortable pub, reasonable selection of beers though the general atmosphere and lay-out were better than the beer offering itself. Nice outside patio area at back. Worth a look. |
70 The Foresters Arms has re-opened as a gastropub-type establishment, although most people around (including myself) were drinkers only. It certainly is a change from the spit-and-sawdust boozer from days of yore. They advertise craft beer, but this being a Wells pub, I was a bit cautious with my expectations. Basically, they have four beers (mostly Charles Wells and the like), five beers on keg (all from Charles Wells, including two of their 'Wandering Brewer' collabs) and some cans from ex-craft such as Beavertown and Fourpure as well as Tiny Rebel's wonderful Clwb Tropicana. With Beerfly and the B&K opening in recent years, this will fall down the choice ladder a bit... however they seem to have the best choice of any Wells pub in town. Exciting times (or as exciting as times get in Bedford anyway). |
