78 New Orleans/Cajun themed restaurant with a pretty solid tap list (which I would not have guessed had I not checked out this place online). Didn’t eat anything, but the prices on the food were at least reasonable. Good deal on beers during happy hour, but otherwise sort of expensive. One of the better options (maybe the best?) in Hermosa. |
56 I stopped here because of the cajun food theme and the fact that the website showed Pliny the Elder on tap. I was the only patron when I arrived, and Pliny had just kicked. I ordered the Debris sandwich, and when it arrived, wondered where the debris was. I have had traditional New Orleans debris sandwiches in the French Quarter, and this was very far away from those. There were a couple local brews on tap along with more standard offerings. The service was quite good. |
76 Great selection, fairly uneducated staff, lots of live music so don’t come here looking for a quiet time. |
76 Buena selección de cervezas en tirador.
Un poco caro pero es lo único que hay por la zona, |
88 Big selection of top notch beers great entertainers food is great much better then we thought it would be fish tacos were awsome |
84 Had been in there last year only to find service sub par and beer selection so-so. food was good, though. After going in last week, i found that boogaloo was under new ownership. i also found that beer selection had improved greatly. this was a monday afternoon and the happy hour was from 2-7 pm and drafts were two for one. $7.00 pints for the higher octane ales. the selection that day? pliney the elder, stone imperial russain stout, arrogant bastard, chimay, green flash hop head red, rogue dead guy ale, a couple nice porters and several other noteworthy brews. the taps were pouring a bit colder than i’m used to but even the high octane ris was being served in pint glasses. the bartender was amiable and even offered samples. didn’t get a chance to try the food but will certainly stop in again to do so |
80 Visited on Feb 29, 2008. This is a very classy joint right near the pier in Hermosa Beach. Place has a great atmosphere with mature crowd. Definitely not typical for the area. I knew they had a big tap selection but was expecting the usual suspects. From what I remember, the tap selection was great (except for the PBR and Stella) and they even had The Abyss on tap and charging only $5 for a full pint! Needless to say I had a pint. I also had a burger with slaw and sweet potato chips that were phenomenal. Throughout the night my glass of water kept being sneakily refilled so needless to say the bar staff were great and very attentive. I wasn’t a big fan of the music that night... more of a jazz guy. Either way, if you’re in the area, it’s the only place for good beer. |
