80 Nice, comfortable decor. Feels like a North American pub. Service is good, and the waitresses are friendly. Beer selection is way above average. Always a few new ones, especially hard to find ones, such as the latest Flying Monkey brews, and Amsterdam beers even the Amsterdam Brewhouse in Toronto didn’t have. The menu is small and limited. The food is edible, but unremarkable. The value is not bad for the food, but I got some sticker shock to find out my pint glass of Flying Monkeys Muddy Waters Cask Ale was $11, plus tax. Overall it is a nice place to have a pint and the good service and super beer selection will keep me coming back. |
64 This place probably has the best selection of rotating Ottawa and Ontario taps on this side of the river. They do a good job of having lots of Ottawa local stuff with some imports from Toronto breweries and Flying Monkeys. Go during the week for great food specials like half off everything on the menu on certain days. The decor isn’t great with lackluster ambiance, though. Also, the service at the bar is terrible, though the table servers seem ok. The place offers taster flights but the bartender discourages ordering them, so I wouldn’t bother unless you are at a table. |
74 pricey beer on tap. If your money flows like a tap.... HIT IT!!! |
94 This is a great local pub which serves all kinds of local and non-local microbrew. |
76 Pretty good place; great in terms of what’s available beer-wise in the city. Have a decent rotating selection of local seasonal taps as well as rotating casks from plenty of local breweries. The food isn’t anything to get excited about, but it’s good enough after a few pints. Service is average, but regulars get some slightly better treatment (as it should be). Not going to blow anyone away, but it’s a great place to get some new local releases and catch the game with friends. |
82 Easily the best place in Ottawa for a decent pint. This place has 22 taps as well as Cask Ale with a nice selection of bottles in their cooler. Not bad. Cider is also available. Staff is knowledgable and very friendly. They respect a beer evaluator. Food could use some work but who cares when the beer selection is this good. |
84 Stopped in yesterday with a fellow younger beer geek friend. Odd location inside and on the edge of a mini-mall kind of place. Large amount of space but sort of in narrow sections. Lots of neat breweriana decorating the place which was cool. The place was super-duper busy so the staff were obviously stressed out, which I can understand, but they still did a decent job of being attentive and friendly. It helped sitting at the bar. Tap line up is awesome, all Ontario stuff but there’s a ton of them, and legitimate cask! The Mad Tom was outrageously good, I could have killed the cask myself if I cared not for my liver. Menu looked good though we did not partake, the kitchen staff looked they were on the brink of some serious emotional break downs, which inspire empathy in me (also I basically live on shawarma when I visit Ottawa). Prices were kind of meh, though not offensively high. I would definitely go back, in fact I would frequent the place if I lived in Ottawa. |
60 Been here a couple of time in the the last couple of months, most recently for the Cask Festival. Probably the best selection of local (Ontario) beers in the city. Suffers from a poor location with a weird inside patio in a mall but also has an outside patio that is nice. Food is decent, as is the service but I am hoping they continue their trend of rotating in different local beers and that they expand their cask selection (3 the last time I was there). |
62 Nothing terrible. Here before hockey game, server was efficient, but sitting in the courtyard was not great ambience. 2 casks on though made it worth it. |
74 For Ottawa this is a half decent tap list. All Ontario micros which isn’t something to brag about. Pub style with pub style food. Burgers and pizza were pretty good. Better places to go in Hull than here but if you are looking to watch the game and slam back some beer and wings, this is the place. |
