68 A great location, and a good range of local ales - no sign of a Marston’s tie. |
40 This is a pub in a lovely spot, right outside the beautiful cathedral. However that’s as good as it gets. The food was awful, frozen chips and watery supermarket ham, so much for Michael Caines!. The beers are from the Marstons stable, some seasonals but that’s about it. Not a pub to revisit. |
54 Nice traditional pub ; Good service ; Selection bit disappointing with only 3 well known ales ; Fairly priced ; Average place. |
60 place offers fantastic views of the cathedral if you manage to get a table near the windows. The beer selection is decent but not outstanding, 4 real ales on tap, only one og which I hadn’t seen in other Devon pubs. The food however was fantastic and really good value considering the location. Superb sandwiches made with love, really delicious. Very good for a quick lunch and a few good pints in the very heart of Exeter. |
46 Splendid location next to cathedral, also part of hotel next door with some dude called michael caines being the masterchef. Odd place on my visit, between an old pub and a more modern pub/bar. Fairly quiet but staff and locals friendly. Beer selection Marstons dominated, not all the pumps in use. Had a nice pint from the Exeter Brewery, so not a total loss. |
44 Beer selection ok and well kept ,not much atmosphere and could do with redecorating, sadly a shadow of its former self |
56 Very hit-and-miss in my experience I’ve visited a lot over the years and had some good evenings here as well as walking out a few times due to there only being Cottage beers on sale (this happened once during our last visit!). Saying that, generally they have a decent range of Devon beers which can include Otter (the house beer is rebadged Otter Ale), Coutry Life, Teignworthy, Cotleigh and the like. Not the most sociable or relaxed atmosphere, but the beer can make up for that. |
62 Great pub that affords a wonderful view of the cathedral (sit by the front window) Good selection of beer and one or two tricky to get hold of ciders. Very good! |
70 Lovely old fashioned pub with an impressive view of Exeter Cathedral and the green. The place is very dark and intimate, ideal place to relax with a pint of one of the range of ales available. Plenty of Otter ales on my last visit including a house special. Good support of the local South West micros here. |
50 Smoky beer-hall, not very cozy, not intimate, the loud music is also pretty unpleasant; beer selection is O.K......... |
