64 I went here to get my Merseyside tick, right after arriving Liverpool. This is a combined restaurant and bar with a small patio outside. If prison cells are your thing, you can enjoy a bit of food here, also bread and water. I came for the beer, and wasnt disappointed, 4 cask, from Liverpool Organic, Titanic and so on made my day, visited several times during my Liverpool stay. |
60 A former prison, the buildings structure has not been altered too much so that you can’t tell this, with a high walled courtyard area that now doubles as its patio, you can also sit in some of the former cells to do your drinking. The room at the front is where the bar and the main seating area is, and it’s an atmospherically Dickensian with its cold stone walls throughout. It’s quite a small place but manages to sustain a row of ales from local micros as well a few bottled brews made in the city too. |
48 A converted police cellar where you actually drink and eat in prison cells. A few tables are connected to the bar area at the entrance. Just three cask ales at our visited, a few more on taps and a minimal range of bottles. Polite service, but they did not know anything about the Liverpool One brewery which we had expected to find here. Indifferent reggae music in the background. Tasty Fish and Chips. Would have stayed longer with a better beer offering (visited 30.01.2015). |
58 converted prison HMP Bridewell. plenty of history with cells converted into snugs. A bit chainy menu and style wise, only 3 of 5 casks on and no seating left for non-diners. another one that’s worth a look in. Fairly pricey |
74 Nice place almost in the city centre. Lovely patio.
The only place so far I have found with ale from Liverpool One.
Decent ale selection also from other foregin and british breweries. |
