84 Been here a few times, love the place, early for me, the live bands of stand up comedy is something I’m not keen on in breweries (old fart) but the beer, and service has always been fantastic, and the food enough to keep you from wandering off to eat somewhere else. Events can get very busy as it’s quite small inside, but if you want great beers, thats part of the package!! |
62 Weird strip mall location. Seems first and foremost a hookah bar that happens to serve some pretty damn good beer. I’m not a fan of smoke, so it’s not a surprise that I preferred the main brewery, but my main complaint is the unpleasant vibe the employees give off. Despite the good beer, I can’t recommend this place. |
90 Hookah lounge/taproom/concert venue. Great beer but preferred the selection in the taproom. |
84 Nice dive bar feel. Too much hookah though. Good selection at fair prices with friendly service. |
84 Located in a nondescript shopping center this place doesn’t look like much on the outside. Inside is another matter. It’s part hookah house, part tea room, part local dive bar. They had 8 of theirs on tap which usually range from good to best in style plus some good guest taps including a couple of a cigar City. The bartender seemed to know their beer though they spend just as much time preparing hookah pipes which are really popular here. It’s good to see a place with ambition beyond the typical chain-style brewpub. |
70 This is a fun place to visit... and great place to see a show. Beer selection is hit or miss on variety. They do have guest beers I appreciate that. Food is average... cool place beer brewed in small batch. |
88 Located in a ratty strip mall in the crap part of Boca Raton. Visited soon after opening time (5pm) on a Monday. Despite the rough exterior, the interior is really nice, well designed with a large stage to the right, tables spread throughout the room, a couch and a couple of comfy chairs. The large bar is located at the end of the space, and the brewery and home brew shop are located next door. Overall, nice clean design. On draft they have 10-12 well chosen guest drafts, and 7 of their own brews on. A couple of the locals I drank with mentioned they generally have quite a few more of their own beers on, which is impressive. Solid music, though perhaps a touch loud at 5:15 for this old dude. The food was small pizzas and snacks. Hookah seemed like a real focus here, which detracted slightly when someone nearby was smoking. Service was great, beer quality was high. I really enjoyed my visit. 88 = ★★★★ (best in area, a must for locals and visitors) I only use the total score, not the component parts. |
94 The Funky Buddha has been my local watering hole for three years now. They make tremendous beers and sell a number of guest taps and bottles. They have very little turnover of bartenders so it is nice to walk in and see familiar, friendly faces. The crowd tends to also be younger and craft beer lovers. Ambiance is...well....Funky! It is dark with lots of artwork, tapestries, etc. They do live music/performance so there is a stage in the middle. Food...not so much. It is mostly frozen stuff and light snacks. I love the Buddha. |
80 A cool bohemian 1980s haunt with home art, lots of buddhas, rock theme and bric a brac. Friendly service, good beers, but limited menu though. Great spot in Florida. |
84 In town for work and the only chance I would have to get to the Buddha would be late on my final night. I show up a little after 1am on a Monday and am pleased to see about 20 other people and live funky little band, kick ass. I sit at bar and order a flight of brews the bartender is efficient but borderline mean but she’s sexy enough that I don’t care. Beers are decent and the vibe is cool. i would definitely hang here more often if i lived closer. You can also enjoy some hookah or a wide selections of teas, something for everyone. |
