Ambiance was beer mania. Bottles, flags, tap handles everywhere. Small place, with a big screen. The smoking section was rather small, but that is not a complaint. As noted below, Sergio seemed to be the only employee. His insight on each beer we tried was wonderful, and he gave this advice during each pour. A bit slow at times, but understandable. Selection is second to none in this region, currently near 900 beers and counting. You really begin to wonder if he has a secret beer bunker somewhere, since it seems impossible for 800+ beer to fit in this place. For dinner, I had the "small" cheese steak, which was a foot long sandwich, with some good seasoned fries. Tasty. My friends also enjoyed their entrees. The beer was well priced for the quality, and served at appropriate temperature, something that even Rich O’s doesn’t always manage to accomplish. A great beer jewel in Shelbyville. The good news is that Sergio’s might move to Middletown\Louisville soon. If that happens, Rich O’s may be usurped as the best beer joint in Louisville Metro.

A wonderful introduction to a large world of Beers. Sergio is able to provide sound advice to even novice Beer Geeks while not talking down or raising his nose. DO NOT MISS BEER DINNERS. Very low key atmosphere with no pretenses on display. Cheesesteak to die for and though on the hole in the wall side it seems to me to fit the style of the place not to have advertisments running full tilt boogey proclaiming what is obvious if you step inside.... THE BEST BEER SELECTION AND KNOWLEDGE IN A TRI STATE AREA. I’ve learned more about beer in the past three weeks than in the last three years by tasting the menu. My girl and I live about 20 miles away and I’ve been kicking myself that this place existed and I’ve been missing out for 3 years. Consider myself a regular after three trips because I know of how many more are to come. bg

Sergio is one quirky cat. That said, he knows and loves beer like few others I have met. The vibe is sort of garage sale/beer mecca. Hard to describe, but the uninitiated would probably expect Sergios to look more polished. Don’t dress nice, you’ll be fine in cut-offs. Don’t order a bud light, youll feel stupid. Whatever you do, dont order something youve had before!! Sergios is a place to drink the obscure, rare and sublime beers of the world.

This place is sort of a hole in the wall place. If I was driving past it without looking for it, I wouldnt look twice or even consider stepping into it. Though they dont have a ton of super rare brews (at least in the universal sense... they DO have beers that are impossible to find elsewhere in KY, Fantomes for example) they do have a ton of brews in general. I know a bar could theoretically offer more beers, but I dont think such a task is realistic, which is how I justify scoring it a perfect on selection. Service was fine, but not great. Sergio is always around serving and willing to chat about beer. Food is very mediocre and mostly Mexican. It doesnt really pair well with most all of the beers, but is still nice to use as a sobering up method after being tempted into trying one too many from the incredible beer list. I wish take-out bottles were legal in KY; at the same time, that would make this place dangerous in regards to my economic stability.

Sergio’s is the go-to place for all your beer curiosities. Sergio is very freindly and plays host to many interesting people who travel from far and wide to imbibe delicious brews. Sergio always has interesting beer on tap that, plain and simple, you can’t get anywhere else. 700+ beers available as of 10/08. The food menu is large and a bit incoherent as no one ’style’ of food is fully explored by the kitchen. However, the Gyro and Cheese steak sandwiches are the mainstays and the best in the area! Expect personalized service by Sergio. If it’s busy, expect a longer stay to allow Sergio to make his rounds i.e. there’s room for improvement here. Atmosphere is relaxed and eclectic with great blues music softly playing in the background. The building is a little long in the tooth and the interior is rather used and cluttered but is easy to overlook once you settle in. I’m blessed to have such a great place nearby.

stopped in this past saturday evening. was greeted at the door by sergio, who ended up being our waiter, bartender and cook. sergio knows his beer. soft spoken and knowledgable i was in awe. i tried the mcchouff scotch ale, chimay tripple, palo santo all on draft and then a bottle of the quartre centenial. plus the rave about the philly steak and cheese is all that..was a wonderful sandwich. oh yea the beer was out of this world. i’ll be heading back there again and again.

This is simply the largest selection of beers I have ever seen or heard about. Serge is knowledgeable and forthright. Sergio’s is definitely a place run by and for people who love beer. Enjoy!

Sergio’s isn’t much to look at, but it’s got the best beer selection for 100 miles. The neon sign is burned out, and the interior isn’t very enticing, but Sergio is a great guy and the selection (600+ beers) is incredible. I had a cheesesteak which was also very good. I had a couple great IPAs so I was pretty content. Unfortunately, local laws prohibit to go sales so you can’t get a growler.

Two miles off interstate and turn left and on the left. Good parking in front. Clean older building with bar in the back with tables for food and beverages in the front. Standard and seasonals on tap and good selection of bottles. Freindly server, Sergio, with good knowledge of brews. Did not have food. I will stop again.

When first told about this place, I felt like I was being lied to. Surely if there was a place in Shelbyville with hundreds of beers I would have heard about it. Alas, my networking skills had failed me once again, and I had missed out on this gem for nearly 9 months. Since then, I’ve been many times, and my opinion of this place is quite positive. Upon entering, even the most veteran beer geek will be amazed by the sheer amount of brewania lining the walls and ceilings. The main room is reasonably sized, with approximately 10 tables, and a large TV. Lining the walls are license plates from every state in the US, many flags, and dozens of beer glasses and tap handles. The main room leads to a smaller beer bar where the density of brewania is even more extreme. Hundreds of empty bottles line the walls, are scattered across the bar. Many of these bottles are from Sergio’s personal collection, including a few very old Belgian beer bottles. An unusual and interesting place. About 180 degrees different than Rich O’s.
