Typical brewpub\restaurant. They serve only Alt bier, which is rather good.

Classic village German brauhaus, a lot of wood and some old decoration and curtain; the Alt is quite nice.

Nice brewpub with friendly staff and nice Altbier. Only parking is difficult - but the beer is nice.
Worth a visit!

Oh boy, the second brewpub in the vicinity of Dusseldorf that I have a problem with. The interior is amazingly kitschy, with the dining section fit for a low level cantine and not a fairly expensive brewpub. The food was absolutely awful. The beef broth was clearly made on nothing but on instant bouillon cubes and they put a package of frozen vegetables into the pot. That might have been the most pathetic and tasteless meal I’ve ever had in a restaurant. The beer, now that is another story. If it wasn’t for some sulphury notes it could compete with the best altbiers from the old town in Dusseldorf. My advice - pop in for a stange of their altbier and then move along.

A great little brew pub where the brewing is done in the lounge! I knew this place would be good when I alighted the train as the whole area smelt of the brew under progress! And wow, what an Alt, one of the best.

I happened to live right by an S6 stop, so I had to stop by this new brewpub. New is a key word here. This is not your typical german hall, but the german heart is there alright. Seats maybe a hundred people with generic furniture, but more modern than most. Efficient no-show service fitted my visit during a rather busy time. Worth the detour if you’re in Düsseldorf for more than a day.

Typical german faceless "suburban" Gaststätte, neither old and cozy nor very modern and stylish; but their beer, that is brewed there on a modern "brew-computer" is worth a detour. Far better than the most "industrial" Altbier; this brew is nearly as good as the "classics" from Düsseldorf-Altstadt. No reason to miss it !

Ratingen is an 18 minute train ride from Dusseldorf HBF on the S6. This pub brews one beer, an Altbiere (No suprises here). They have been brewing since 3/17/2005. The brewmaster said the recipe was tweaked until 12/05 and he has been brewing the same one constantly since then. The staff is very friendy. They have a menu in german and english, but even in english I still had no idea as to what some of the items were. If you have worn out the Altstadt in Dusseldorf and are looking for some place new then head up to Ratingen. If youare in Ratingen then you have no excuse not check this place out.
