Our place in the Short North. Small setup, but laid back and top notch for craft brew. Only six taps - with mostly local. They typically have a couple rare or new that I haven’t had. A wall of coolers with a good selection to drink in house for a $1 corkage or to-go. The bartenders are knowledgeable and always fun to chat up. The best kind of hole in the wall.

(Visited 08/2013): House Beer is located in the Short North on North High and 1st. Street parking (some metered, some not, and some permit) is available in the surrounding blocks.

The interior is tiny, with a couple coolers with chilled bottles to go on the left wall, and a couple high tables with marble tops on either side. The short bar is directly in the back. A chalkboard listing the beers is behind the bar. Yellow and red walls, and hanging incandescent lights.

The draught beer list consists of 6 taps, with a focus on Ohio breweries like Columbus Brewing, Seventh Son, Fat Heads, Hoof Hearted and Portsmouth. As for bottles there are over 100, with many domestic craft breweries represented like Oskar Blues, Rogue, Great Lakes, Bells and many more. Imports from Belgium, Germany, the UK and other regions.

Service at the bar on a busy night where they were debuting Coconut Bodhi was good. The staff were all knowledgeable about beer and friendly.

House Beer does not serve food.

All in all this is a nice trendy little spot that I will definitely visit again, although I would try to hit it during off hours considering how small and crowded it can get.
