64 Vic’s is located near the Neil/5th Ave intersection near downtown in Victorian Village. There is a lot of free street parking in the blocks surrounding the joint. I stopped by on an early Monday evening and the place was pretty dead. The place has a great local vibe, very small and eclectic. There is definitely a peacenik atmosphere to the place which is probably offputting to some but I didn’t mind it at all. Lots of blue hues in the main room where the bar and restaraunt seating is, and the adjacent pool room is a seafoam green color. The beer selection is varied and pretty good overall. They only have 5 taps from Shiner Bock, Oberon, Arcadia etc, and it looked like 2 of them were empty. The bottle selection is much better: GLBC, CBC, Rogue, Sierra Nevada, Founders and others from stateside. Add to that a decent import list from Young’s, Delirium Tremens, Lindemans, Chimay etc. As for the service, despite the fact that I was the only person at the bar, I kind of got the impression that I was putting the bartender out. Not a big deal, and she did give me an actual Stout glass for my Breakfast Stout when I asked. I did not try the food. Overall a unique spot in a pretty little section of Columbus. Worth a visit. |
