62 Went here with the fam on a saturday afternoon. Big open place. There were only a handful of groups there and one person running the place. She was nice, but stretched thin. Food was ok pub fair. There beers are what the are: they do ok on porter/stout, but everything else is below average for me. |
80 Nice brewpub in pleasant area of town. Good size with decent size bar. Nice menu - only had the pierogis but they were excellent. OSU game on while I was there so obviously it was loud but I didn’t find it extreme. Large parking garage about 300 yards north. Great place. |
84 Had the feel of a football themed Friday’s but a few surprising home run beers made this a great stop. |
72 A large spot that is really targeting the college crowd, which I am not. Loud and obnoxious with a sports theme this place gets under my skin. The bartender was pleasant and took it all in stride, taking good care of us and the screeching women around us. Large selection of beers with tons of guest taps to boot. Prices were solid for a flight and free samples were easy to come by. Beer was surprising good with some that were down right great. A bit out of the way but worth the stop. |
78 (Visited 05/2015 and a few times since): Pigskin is a new brewpub in Gahanna in the Creekside neighborhood on Mill Street. Limited street parking plus a large garage on the other side of the plaza. There is a patio out front and on the side, and inside opens to a large open space. The brewery is visible from outside as well as on the left side of the dining area. The bar wraps around the back of the room. Wooden floors and high-top tables in the seated area with hanging growler lights, and windows all around let in a lot of light. There are large boards behind the bar listing both the Pigskin and guest beers. As for the beers, Pigskin has around 12 of their own beers on tap at any given time. Along with the year-round beers like Legendary Amber, Kickoff Brown and Porterback, they also do seasonals and one-offs like Baptized By Fire and Barrel Aged Autumn Wind. In addition they have done "Brewer’s Challenges" where homebrewers can submit beers under a certain theme which are then voted on, with the winner having their beer put in rotation. Lastly they carry guest beers from breweries like Great Lakes. Some bottled selections too. Samplers are available (however the glasses don’t fit very well in the trays). Service has been consistently good on my visits. The bartenders and servers are friendly and helpful with information about the beers. The food menu at Pigskin has recently been enhanced and includes appetizers, flatbreads, sandwiches and entrees. The food I have tried has been good. Overall I didn’t give this place much of a shot early on based on the lazy name and some lackluster beers but they have been doing better, and I plan to continue visiting regularly. |

70 Visited in an early afternoon on a Saturday. No parking is available close, but a couple blocks over there is street parking so long as you stay less than 4 hours. The inside is full of lots of shiny, modern looking finishes. There is a big L shaped bar that you can see as soon as you walk in the front door. It was pretty empty when I visited, so the bartender had no trouble keeping up with my wife and I. We ordered a couple flights, which were four 5-ounce pours for $9. That seemed somewhat steep, but not too bad. The quality of the beers were middle of the road to good. All things considered, this place was better than I expected. The name sort of gave me a lower opinion of them from the get-go, but they exceeded them. I would come back. They seem to brew beers in many styles and had a broad range on tap on my visit. |
84 This has a bit of a corporate sports bar feel to it but is has a great outdoor space and is very open. They had six of there own beers on tap, including one of a rotating list of special releases, as well as 12 guest taps and several nice bottles. The menu looked intriguing and my pirogi appetizer was very good. They had corn hole set up and a guy playing the guitar outside. This is a very cool place when the outside is usable. It is worth the trip to the east side of town. |
