74 I’ll review this place out of respect for it! I lived in Bellefonte for a couple of years around 2003 and this place was awesome. Great food, good German and German-Style beer. The location was awesome, right over the river in the Summer. It was in a huge building and was, and I don’t use this word much, charming. As others have said, it burned down. I’ve heard it may be rebuilt, I hope so. |
72 This place was a real Gem. Such a shame that it was destroyed. Lovely atmosphere - lots of stone work. Nice selection of German beers and some German style beers from Penn. The food was wonderful German fare with the specialty being the house made sausages. This place is missed. |
70 This place had a fire in April or May of 2006 believed to have been started by faulty wiring or some kind of appliance. No one was injured or killed. But it is a sad loss because of the significant historical value of the building it was in. |
68 Great place to go if you like German food and are in the State College area (can't believe I forgot to add this place myself). Sitting on the patio is kind of reminiscent of a small European town (a lot of Victorian houses on the hill above). I think in the same parking lot, there is an entrance to the local bottle shop. They usually carry some German brews and Victory stuff. |
