Vulkan Brauerei & Brauhaus

Visited on a Thursday evening during summer holiday. Patio was packed but we managed to get a seat relatively quickly. Large patio, nice modern wooden interior, quick and efficient service. Beers were decent but not very exciting, prices relatively high, especially for the food. Had a great Schweinehaxe though, so no complaints there. Small shop adjacent sells almost all beers to go as well, for decent prices. Their BA beers are hilariously overpriced, but bought one anyway 'cause hey, holiday. Bought some very nice pungent cheese as well. Certainly worth a visit when in the area.

The rectangular building may not look too inviting from the outside but let yourself not be deceived - inside it is both spacious and cozy. And also their large patio is nice on a warm day. We didn't get to see their famous cellars that are deep underground but still the brewery made quite an impression on me. The immediate vicinity of one of the world's supervulcanoes that are bound to explode in a more near than distant future added to the excitement. The lovely waiting girl served us top notch food and their beers, which range from mediocre (American styles) through very good (classic German styles) to absolutely delicious (their Bourbon Doppelbock is a definite must). Altogether it was a great experience.

Klasse Brauhaus mit super geschultem und freundlichem Personal! Kinder werden sehr herzlich bedient. Gibt ein Extra Lob! Ca 10 eigene Biere vom Fas+ 2-3 Flaschen. Es gibt ne Bierprobe die nicht auf der Karte steht. Da wird als Highlight das 12. Bier gestachelt! Leckeres Essen. Pflicht Stopp!!

Very decent brewpub. They made quite an effort with the design of the brewpub/Brauhaus part and it shows. Staff was friendly, beers were decent, the food was good, slightly on the higher side of the price range but well worth it. Would happily visit again.

Visited two times. Large Brewpub. Service is friendly. The beers are average to good. A lot of parking space in the front of the building.

We stopped here after visiting the fantastic volcano museum and basalt mine (well worth a visit). Only ate a pretzel (which was fine). Tried the Dunkel and Helles on draught - both enjoyable in the beer garden, on a hot summer afternoon. A nicely stocked shop with beer, food and other merchandise. I probably spent too much there, but there are now several bottles of Vulkan beer residing in my garage in Scotland!

Visited Early 2015, conveniently located en route NorthSea-to-Southwest. - recently modernised and revamped Brauhaus with ample room, bright and clean, with a view into their deep lagering cave and even a separately manned shop selling their whole range, without having to bother serving personel. Recently started canning their decent entry-level motueka pale ale at good prices, available in 6packs on site. Decent Mittagstisch and more upscale menu. Managed to deal with large groups and busses efficiently.

Very nice beer garden, seating for more than 100 persons in the shadow of big towering trees. Very good food, typical German cuisine, good and efficient service, the first beer arrived only 2 minutes after we had been seated, my son and my self. Also a good brauerei shop inside, where you can buy almost the full range from the brewery. Recommended stop if you are travelling between Cologne and Koblenz, just 2 minutes away from the autobahn.

Yet another 4 nothing special brews in typical modern brauhaus. The best thing was the steak - really great.
