70 This is an underground beer hall, seemed packed with Asian tourists. Tap list was modest but the whole place had an okay selection of Belgian beers including many trappists. Service was so-so, but I enjoyed the burger I had there. Surprisingly they ran out of their flagship pilsner when I stopped by, kind of an odd thing to do with your main beer. Perfectly adequate for me that night as I wanted some decent food with some beer. Flight are available. |
56 Belgo is a rather large Belgian restaurant in Covent Garden. This outpost also has a small upstairs bar, as well as the large, cavernous downstairs restaurant. I have visited a few times over the years, mostly to eat mussels. They offer an OK range of Belgian beers on tap (10ish) and in bottles (30ish). Nothing particularly unusual on the go except for their 2 house beers (a pils & a wit), however you can get some Westmalle/Rochefort etc which ain’t bad. Not a place to come purely for a drink, but an decent enough restaurant with beer. A pretty good option if you have a large group as well. |
76 Not a place I would go to just for a drink. More of somewhere to eat with a really nice selection of Belgian beers. They have a good range of standard stuff and some interesting different ones too. Food is nice; I always have a burger, which is a solid option. Atmosphere is good; like a beer hall. |
72 Great selection of bottled beers. Fun restaurant, beer hall style. But bad smells form the kitchen everywhere. |
60 More of a restaurant, not quite a chain but kind of. Beer selection is only belgian but if thats what you’re after they have a solid selection. Food was ok, but I wouldn’t go here for a drink only. |
72 Very nice atmosphere but a bit noisy because of the crowd; great food, eight beers on tap and 70 bottles including five of the trappistes. A nice restaurant with a few good beers. |
68 A reasonable selection of bottled beers in this cavernous and characterful place. Service is usally friendly and efficient but I have encountered the occasaional fluff head in here! Food usually pretty good. |
56 They serve very nice mussels and also nice beef carbonada . They also had a big selection of beers for the uk. |
64 Good food, good service, the beer list was some decent belgian beers, but not very comprehensive. Decent enough, but not worth the hype |
64 Contrary to a lot of the miserable bastards below this is pretty good as long as you don’t catch it when it’s really busy. Beer list is good range of well known Beglians: Orval, Westmalle, Hoegaarden, Steenbrugge, Rochfort 8 and 10, and some white and blonde Belgians on tap. About 35 beers in all. Also range of fruit beers and the odd Iambic in the connoisseurs section. Food is tasty if you choose the right thing: Beef Corannade is great. Moules also good. Chicken average. |
