Hingehen!
Very nice location in the heart of craft beer district in Seoul. Both upstairs bar and basement bar, there's an excellent bottle shop in between. Friendly staff. Didn't try the food. Only 6 taps of their own beers so you run out of things to try pretty soon.
Only visited the upstairs part during the afternoon as we were short of the time. The beers were fantastic. The best we had in Seoul the whole trip. Interesting mix of styles. Friendly staff and nice atmosphere.
Used to be a proper brewpub before brewery was moved to Jeju. Now it’s a pub for Magpie Brewing Co. 8 their beers were on tap at the time of my visit. All of great quality. Staff was extremely helpful and made me fantastic company for the evening.
the place where it all started in Seoul. visited this place when it was literally just a hole in the wall with 2 taps, and barely a table. would order beer and sit in the alley to drink. they’ve since grown and opened up a nice little basement with a cool vibe and serve pizza. beer is solid and about as good as you’ll find from a Korean made beer.
Basement level has a concrete bunker vibe but the wooden tables and soft lighting help to ease the mood. Beer quality is solid across the board and up there with the best in South Korea. Pizza available from the in-house oven. There’s no real interaction with staff. Place your order at the bar and move on. It’s a fun place to grab a beer during a crawl along the alley, however be aware that it does get loud down here.
7 beers on tap in upstairs street bar. Tried American IPA, Robust Porter and Country Folk Farmhouse Pale Ale. All were excellent. Very good value for Korea at 6-7000won. Highly recommended if in the area.
Upstairs is a small space with half-a-dozen taps and a small selection of bar nibbles. Taps are split between Magpie beers and other local (Seoul) beers. Downstairs is larger, with similar tap setup (maybe a couple more) and with pizza ... very nice pizza at that. Bar staff downstairs are friendly, but with limited english (learn Korean!). If you visit only one craft beer place in Seoul, to get a feel for the local scene, Magpie is probably the best, and makes the best Korean craft beers I’ve tasted. My ratings are based on the downstairs part; I find upstairs a little claustrophobic.
