74 Decided to add this place since they are actually brewing their own beer now. Home of the Shag Rock Brewing Company, this Restaurant/Brewery/ Oyster Bar has established a good reputation in Rockland for having high quality food in a great location. It is located a short walk from the downtown area, perched right on the harbor which overlooks the picturesque Penobscot Bay. The food is top notch, so dinners here are usually reserved for special occasions. However, they do offer a reasonable lunch menu with great sandwiches and burgers to choose from. And there is of course the oyster bar which never ceases to impress. Along with Delirium Tremens, and some Atlantic Brewing Co offerings, they have also started to brew their own beer. So far I have had their IPA, 2 stouts (a sweet stout and an oatmeal stout which I preferred from the two), and a golden ale. The latest that I tried was a Winter Seasonal which was very good; an IPA with local berries. Their beers change every couple of months or so, which is good in that they are always changing, but I did enjoy the oatmeal stout and was sad to see it go; perhaps they will bring it back again soon. Awesome outdoor seating during the summer time. While their beers are only limited to their restaurant, it’s definitely worth a try if you’re in the area. |
