74 Sandwiched between the canal and the fast moving Calderdale Way, once a brewpub carries both its own ales with a fine rotating selection from Yorkshire and beyond, it now just concentrates on the latter aspect. Despite the dual carriageway being a stones throw away it has a superb location perched right above the Rochdale canal and it’s hard to see why anyone with a narrowboat wouldn’t stop at this Elland pub given the pretty location it occupies. For those travelling by more popular forms of transport there is a car park and it is walkable from the main bus stops in town. It’s predominantly wooden in design with mix of boards and carpets on the floor. The bar is central to the building and ales are spread out on all three sides of it. It’s open plan with several defined areas to sit in, although if a table is available overlooking the canal than it’s worth grabbing one. Food is available. |
