Last time we visited I was surprised about the great service we got. Very attentive and helpful. Some years ago they moved from an all Belgian beer list to both Belgian and Dutch beers and they tend to have a lot of small breweries from The Netherlands now on regular display. The "treasure list" can be found on Untappd and contains some special botlles/cans. I had two beers from The Flying Dutchman, both great and a Pannepot which is always a treat. The food is excellent for a beer joint.

Visited during Rootz Winterbierfestival. Horrible weather, so I picked up a bad cold, but I can’t blame this pub for that. Reasonably friendly service considering the crowd. Can be expensive. Two coins (6 euros) for a tasting glass of Barrel Aged IRS seems steep to me. But I will visit again on a quieter day. A later visit proved that the food is decent.

More of a restaurant with some decent beer vine than a pure bar, but they do stock some more unusual offerings for Den Haag and the prices are OK. Well worth a visit if in town.

Large restaurant definitely with a focus on beer. About a dozen taps, most of them Belgian classics and Dutch micros, one of them is brewed for them. Quite a large bottle list, 100-200 I’d say, fairly divided between Belgian classics and Dutch micros. I like the ambiance, there’s lots of wood, dimmed light and a relaxed atmosphere. Staff is friendly, but does not seem to be that focused. Nice place though!

Visited on Saturday 26/09/15 around 8 pm. A busy restaurant with a decent beer selection though not too much in the way of winners for the ardent ticker. Tap list was largely scrolled past but amongst the fairly extensive bottle list, comprising largely of tried and trusted Belgian offerings, there were more than a couple of Dutch micro scoops to be found. Atmosphere was good, largely a 30 something crowd eating. We moved away from the main downstairs area by the bar into the entrance area where we found a tall table to stand around. Service was fine bearing in mind the time. Not a place that blew me away by any means but pleasant enough and worth stopping by bearing in mind it’s central location.

Hard to rate this place. Visited at about 1.30 – 2.00 in the morning on a saturday. We didn’t go inside because you had to leave your coats at the cloakroom. At this time of the day it was basically a club & not a bar. Loud music, people dancing, light, beer in plastic cups,… Place was packed. Hard to believe that this is a regular bar during day time let stand alone a restaurant. We sat outside on the patio & drank their house beer from plastic cups, surrounded by teenagers. The house beer was decent / okay. Some teens insisted on sitting on top of my umbrella in order to smoke joints which was weird. They actually moved it so that they could sit on top. I am not going to rate it too harshly here since the whole thing was apparently not very representative of the place during most of its opening hours.

The city centre branch of Rootz is smaller than its counterpart by the harbour in Scheveningen but it has more character. It’s in an attractive old building with brightly painted shutters in the main shopping drag. The bar is dark and atmospheric and there’s a nice leafy pavement patio outside. To the side of the old building is a once open space which has been made into a music venue, also with a small bar. The beer list was OK, with seven or eight taps and maybe twenty bottles. Unfortunately the service was painfully slow and not overly helpful. (Visited 26 September 2015).

Nice old bar with a decent selection of commonish Belgian beers and a smattering of Dutch craft. Service is at the bar or at the table. The only thing I didn’t like about this place was the barstools along the entire length of the bar making it hard to get to but that is offset by the table service. There is a tasting tray available, but be aware it;s for the taps on the wall and not the bar taps. Had some hot cheese and potato snacks here which went down well. Yeah not a bad place at all.

Can’t believe we missed this on all our beer tours to The Hague. Nice selction of beers, Dutch and Belgian. Service is OK, but bit slow. Will try this place out next time when in the Hague again.

Nice looking place with friendly staff. They have some usual stuff on tap and a nice bottle list with quite some Dutch micros. Bottles are very expensive though.
