Falcon Hotel

We visited here on Saturday 12th January during Whittlesey Straw Bear festival, an annual event which sees a straw bear paraded around town to the accompaniment of about 40 + Morris sides and a huge gathering of townsfolk and others like myself and Loz from further afield. This pub is just a very short walk along the road from The Letter B a freehouse and more pub like establishment. The Falcon had probably 7-8 beers on when we were there but clearly the numbers were rather swollen by the festival. We used two of the 3 bars? (I think that there are three) We used what I would consider to be the main bar which as you enter the hotel through the main door you turn left and this bar is just ahead of you taking up part of the right hand side. I guess that this is a freehouse as there was Oakham amongst the the selection, however it could equally be a GK establishment that takes one or two guests, I am afraid that I never checked this out fully. Busy when we were here owing to the festival and certainly more hotel like, but the little snug bar to the right as you enter is definitely more pub like. A good venue if Oakham beers are regular and I believe that JHB certainly is according to the website, but The Letter B along the road is probably the best in Whittlesey.
