Today at 3:00 PM I entered the MGM Wine and Spirits located in Champlin, MN to make a purchase for a holiday event for my family. As a newbie to the city I was surprised to see in MN you are allowed to bring children into wine/liquor store. This is not allowed in the state of which I am native. As I entered the store and noticed I was followed closely by the manager, “assuming “he was only attempting to provide good customer server. As my son and I (African American) approached the check out, he asked me for both for ID.s. This was a shock to me as a white female with two younger girls checked out and no questions were ask. My orders was over $200.00 and he turned me away as if I criminal, stating it was because my son was under 21. I asked, why the white customers with their children were able to make purchases and he stated “Children Don’t Count”. As I am standing there with my son. I called back to the store to get the owners information and to let the store manager know its 2015 and is racist attitude was unacceptable. This was very embarrassing and hurtful experience. It’s sad in 2015, we are still experiencing this level of ignorance. Needs less to say I will never shop at this establishment again. Racism is everywhere this was just a wakeup call for me. I will be blogging and letting everyone of color know not to shop here.

Not too bad for a big chain store. They’ve got a few interesting beers in stock and have a build your own sixpack feature. I’ve found both Surly Abrasive Ale and Surly Darkness here in the past, when neither could be found at other stores in the area. Their pricing tends to be on the high side, particularly for these "in-demand" beers.

Pretty standard liquor store, fair at best selection of beers (a little better than G Will up the street), has a small make your own 6 pack section (the one at G Will is bigger), overall a few decent selections, really the only big thing that jumped out at me was an Anchor Hop Vodka, hasn't heard of that one before, overall prices seemed fair
