A few good beers on tap, nice ambiance, good food, if not a lot of selection. However, quite pricey.

This is a nice restaurant with a Cajun slant in the heart of Bloomington. The atmosphere is nice and the food is great, as is the service. Their beer selection isn’t huge (7 or so taps and some bottles), but it’s on point, and they support the local Indiana scene as well. A little pricey, but you get what you pay for. Definitely worth a stop, although primarily for the food. That said, the first guy to review this place should really have his review removed, as it’s completely clear that he’s affiliated with the place.

So many meals in this joint over the years, and it’s pleasing to see that everything is exactly the same. Stopped in on a blazing hot mid-afternoon and sidled up to the cozy bar. Still got the Euro soccer on TV. Only a few taps at Uptown but they’re always well chosen. Some Bells, some German’s, Guinness, and Three Floyds. Lucky me, pints of Alpha King were only 3 bucks. Oh yeah, and the food is very good here. Nice West African peanut soup on the menu.

Ignoring the blatant homerism/unethical rating below, this spot does deserve a spot in this database. It’s been a favorite brunch and guest-entertaining destination for me for a few years but I’ve only recently discovered its improved beer offerings. Very good food, especially the spicier fare, and above-average (American) coffee. I like the little saloon-doored bar area, which offers a different feel than the main restaurant. Cheap $2 draught specials in Bells, Founders, Three Floyds, etc., and had Brooklyn on tap, which still strikes me as rare for this area.

The Uptown Cafe is a beautiful and very affordable place to dine. The music of the Jazz era fills your ears as you enjoy Cajun creole Americana cuisine! You will find a great variety of salads, appetizers, and entrees at a great price, especially for the quality of food you get!!!! The beers on tap change seasonally and provide guests with a great selection of local and international beers!
