As mentioned don’t expect to find anything worthy on tap but the fridge is regularly stocked with changing beers. There is many a local brew but also a small mix of American micros as well (freshness is probably an issue). Friendly and chatty staff. Fitted out in cafe/bistro style and was very busy with diners.

Long narrow place with a large bar to the left as you come in, and a kitchen to the right. Tap list is downright boring, but the bottle list, put together by beer mamager JB, is very interesting. They had a handful of the Renaissance Enlightment series when I visited. Friendly, efficient staff. Worth a look.

I’m not long back from this place. A place founded to replace the old Le Cafe in the Arts Centre. This is a stylish, modern bar with mod-cons, features and things. What is most important to me was that the staff are friendly and attentive, ready and willing to talk and discuss beer and bar culture. While the tap selection is Lion mainstream cosmopolitan (Guinness, Hoegaarden, Kirin, Steinlager, Mac’s Hoprocker, Mac’s Isaac Cider), the bottle selection is interesting, eclectic and going to keep me returning to try the new and unusual. Beer from Scotland to Hawaii, California and Canada and a few locals as well. The food menu was simple, but covered all the bases. The nachos we had were tasty and I wish we had more of them (not a commentary on the price, which was reasonable). I am slightly concerned that on a busy night the predominance of hard surfaces would increase the noise level beyond tolerable. As it stood, the bar was about half full with good outdoor live music and I was able to have a good conversation with my companion. Recommended.
