This is it: the White Whale, a craft beer bar in Germany. Actual real live craft beer from modern small brewers served in a hip modern setting. IN GERMANY! I can’t believe I’m writing this. That being said it wouldn’t really be considered much of a beer destination anywhere else in the civilized world. 4 fixed taps of which 2 are craft ales. About 50 bottles mostly German craft with the rest UK and US standards. Prices seem a bit high considering nothing is actually rare, but I guess I don’t know where else in town you can buy such beers. They run a small bottle shop for takeaway. A bit on the outskirts of Stuttgart, somewhat less touristy than downtown, German menu only. Service was unforgivably slow. I was there for 2 hours just for a beer&burger sitting at the bar. Food was very good though and the guys in the kitchen were efficient, just the bartender was not meant for his job. They have live music in the basement. Definitely worth a trip if you’re in Stuttgart, but be sure to book a table! No wifi.

Restaurant / Bar ... the place is quite stylish / modern. Not solely a beer place .. the selection is quite good for Stuttgart though. We arrived first at about 6 or 6:30pm on Friday evening. The place was half empty, but we could not get a table because everything was reserved. Apparently because of a game at the nearby Stadium. We returned later for some brews. Everything fine. The prices are a bit on the higher side, but still OK. The place is located close to the train station at Bad Cannstatt, which is one stop from Hauptbahnhof, or there are also various U-Bahn lines that stop right in front of the Bar. Cannot comment on the food, but we heard its quite good / they are using quality ingredients. Overall recommended place.
