80 I’m not sure what to make of the atmosphere. It’s very sparse, stark, but ultra modern like something out of a sci-fi movie or a swanky hotel bar. The bartenders were super nice and approachable. Eight or so beers were available, all traditional styles, but running a pretty nice range except for the lack of a dark ale. I was pleased with the beer I had, but couldn’t help but notice the ultra murky, flat beer another patron was working through. Perhaps consistency isn’t their strongest suit. I like the location and the service and price is right. I’m interested to drink a few more of their offerings. |
64 Small space around the uptown area tucked into a strip on 17th dense with trendy restaurants - sparse, modern/urban decor with a touch of old school in the form of a copper bar top - brewing equipment open right up front - appears to be a family-run operation, with daddy financing and the kids brewing and running the show - it’s a nice space in a nice neighborhood, but sadly the beer is lacking in quality at the moment - first, everything I had was under-carbonated, so they’ve got to work on the tap lines - secondly, most of the beer was raw and worty - I appreciate that they are attempting a lot of old world session styles, but they need to work on dialing in their brewing - they have a pale ale on tap which the bartender said was "supposed to me an IPA" that didn’t "turn out" - so, basically admitting they don’t have a handle on how their product turns out - folks were nice and the prices are good - five bucks for a decent flight of four, plus most full pours are five - no food, but you can order in from all of the aforementioned restaurants (menus are available at the bar - I’ll check back in over the next year, but I’m not impressed so far. |
