Friendly brown cafe overlooking the end of the harbour. There is a terrace on a balcony adjoining the main bar and a larger outside area. Reasonable beer choice. Worth a visit if in the area or visiting Pelgrim

A lovely brown café by the main road bridge in Delfshaven. There are some interesting carved wooden pictures on the walls and the weird mechanical biting dog’s head contraption mentioned by Finn in his review below. The terrace lounge (which doubles as the smoking room) overlooks the canal and is a suntrap. The beer was decent and the service accommodating, even when clumsy Chris accidentally knocked his full glass of beer over. (Visited 24 September 2018).

Brown bar (a bit worn but i like it) in the scarce historical part of town. Nice terrace with view on the water and old buildings. Small taplist, but usually at least one interesting beer. Belgian classics. Their feature is having all trappist beers. Nice bottle selection too, but you have to ask... No kitchen, just snacks.

I just had a quick peek inside. Old timey brown cafe with small terrace out front and bigger terrace on the side. Mostly classic Belgian stuff, a Two Chefs beer on tap. Lovely area of town and a nice atmosphere in this pub as well.

We visited Café Oude Sluis on Sunday 27th September 2015 following the After Borefts Beer Festival at Kaapse Brouwers. We cycled from said beer festival it was quite quick we went via the Maas tunnel and then past the Euromast where brave individuals were zip sliding down from the large viewing gallery about halfway up. Café Oude Sluis is in Delfshaven and along with Café Ooievaar, Pelgrim and Café Vanouds ’t Kraantje you have a great little pub crawl with all four places right near each other and situated at what I assume is the top end of Aelbrechtskolk waterway. This is a great little old brown bar, full of interesting local characters, history and some curious such as the strange glass fronted picture on the wall with a black and white head of a creature with a large tongue, there is a button underneath which when pressed illuminates his eye red and mechanisms then move his jaw to open and close. The chap behind the bar hadn’t a clue what it was all about. We sat inside but on a warm day you probably should venture onto the Patio to take in the lovely view of the canal, though I think that you could also do this from a covered patio/conservatory type construction at the rear. Aside from that covered area the Café is split into two simple rooms with painted red concrete/screed floors and heavy chunky simple wooden furniture, some breweriania (forgot how to spell it) is here and there and a beer menu can be found on the tables and bar. There is also a wooden board to the RH side of the bar displaying some of the Tap and bottle offerings. We really liked it here it had real character, we stopped for another beer (Orval, it was a Sunday after all) and waited for Simon and Jackie to join us. Great little find.
