46 We were here on 14.2.2015. It’s located in the market area of the Rocks close to the Sydney opera. As the name indicates it is a German restaurant with a strong attention on beers. They import all beers from Europe. On draft they do have several Löwenbräu beers and Weissbier from Franziskaner. To our big surprise they also have Stiegl Märzen on tap, the beer from Salzburg / Austria we were growing up with. Of course we had a couple of them, not our favorite beer though but good quality. They play German live music and all food is typical German (pork nuckle, sausages,....., looks good we did not eat here). Overall a very commercial / touristic beer place, for us special as they serve Stiegl. |
62 Quite a cool venue, very nice work on making it feel like a beer hall in a interesting space. Ptetty good range of German beers and schnapps, I visited late at night and didn’t eat but they have food. Reasonably priced. Lots of seating. |
66 Quite fun for groups, inside there is a lot of entertainment, and a reasonable amount of German beers and schnapps. The food has big portions and average quality. Outside seating is available. |
42 Big tourist trap smack dab in the middle of shopping district of The Rocks. Super crowded with an extremely mediocre tap list of only macro German stuff: Franziskaner, Paulaner, etc. Probably 4 different German things on tap and bottles of Lowenbrau and other easy to find stuff. Not really a craft beer place, but if you need hefeweizen on tap; this may be you’re only bet in Sydney. But expect a ton of tourists and modest food with ridiculous tourist prices. |
74 Top location and a top place. Awesome ambiance inside with a reasonably authentic Bavarian feel. One of the only places in Sydney allowed to serve 1 litre beers. Not a huge selection but most people are drinking the Löwenbräu and the rest of the place certainly makes up for it. Great Oompapa band later on at night. Love this place. |
42 Visited right before leaving Sydney. Its a nice big bar that caters to tourists. The Rocks area is cool but this bar is very pretentious, overpriced and service is not too good. |
54 This was heaven on earth when I visited Sydney but was longing to be traveling in Germany (where I lived for a time). Spaetzle was good, but don’t be fooled this is quite the tourist trap. Expect to pay well for modest food and beer. |
54 I popped in here every once in a while. There are not too many places you can get good German wheats on tap in Aus, so i guess us Aussies should be thankful for that. This place is bloody expensive though and the staff don’t really know too much about the beer. Its a fun place to come for a stein of German lager though. |
60 Full of tourists and the staff are pretty clueless. Food is good and beers you can’t get anywhere else, but it’s FREAKING expensive. |
88 What a place!! Very authentic German atmosphere. Good beer too. Service was very friendly, and they were very knowledgable about thier beer. The best part about this place is the sink in the men’s bathroom. Definitely an idea Americans need to adopt. |
