64 Visited on a Friday evening for dinner. Large Grand Café - Brown Café mix style restaurant/bar, plenty of seating in the covered patio and inside. Food is typical 'eetcafé' stuff, not very exciting but okay, and a little over-priced. Tap list is focused on Swinckels beers (La Trappe, Bavaria), bottle list is a mix of usual suspects with some decent finds. They also have a fridge with 'can specials' where you enter the restaurant, worth to take a look. Prices are high. Staff was friendly and attentive. Don't think I'll visit again any time soon. |
60 The places along the market square all looked pretty similar, but this one was more crowded than any of the others. Probably reflects the food, which looked creative and tasty, but I had already eaten next door. Beer list isn't exciting, but isn't bad either. Young staff were attentive. Nice place for lunch, especially if the weather is good. |
60 Sunday, things are going slow, late breakfast and I had "done" Amsterdam the last couple of days. What to do before my flight home in the evening? Easy choice! Haarlem is only15 minutes away by train. Awful weather but Haarlem was a nice city. My first beer stop was Roemer. A nice bar and restaurant with a nice patio or conservatory in front facing Botermarkt. Decent tap list with beers from La Trappe, Bavaria, Uiltje, Jopen and even Ayinger Celebrator. Varied pop music and efficient service, though a bit indifferent. A nice place to get my clothes dry before heading out in the rain again. (Visited November 20th 2016) |
64 Very nice location just on the market street .. Large terrace near the fruits stall with man shouting for selling his goods ..good selection of bottles with many usual sospetcs but some new Dutch craft brew .. Inside is a wooden classic café with 12 taps no too much interesting.. Good watching people doing shopping and having a beer .. |
66 Visited on Lammetjesdag 2015. Huge terrace, which attracts a more casual crowd. I was surprised to see the small beer list, with some usual suspects, but also some micros. Not a large selection, but more than they probably would need to have giving the perfect location for the outside terrace. Ok service. |
66 Fairly decent bar, looks like it should be trendy with a poor choice, but has some unexpectedly good stuff. Not an obvious place to spot Brewfist... |
72 A nice brown bar in the centre of town. Great in the summer as they have a lot of outdoor seating. Nice and cosy in the winter too. Nothing special on tap but plenty of juicy bottles to choose from. Solid wifi, great service and good food. |
68 Good food and a fairly large selection of beers. But just a few draft beers. Beatiful location and an ideal terrace (also in winter). |
70 Big sellection on bottle. Draft is limited, but always a local Jopen. Reasonal pubfood selection. |
64 good choice of beers with several taps. Nice terrace outside. Service was a bit slow.. Good atmosphere |
