Royal Standard

Despite being very walkable from the centre or station, no more than 10 minutes south of the latter, this self-standing historic pub building is a little out of the way being surrounded by commerce and business nowadays. It's also changed hands, no longer the late night music venue it was during my first beer tour of Sheffield over a decade ago and has been modernised inside.

I was very uninspired by the atmosphere and the beer when I went in. The friendly chap behind the bar was definitely a redeeming feature. Probably better when there’s a bit more life in the place.
