56 Long thin place on Glebe Point Road. Nice beer garden out the back, very pleasant on a Sunday afternoon. Food looked great but didn’t try. Music inside was dire (ELO and Foreigner). 6 taps of mostly Czech beer, well kept. Tiny fridge of bottled beer. No cards, only cash. |
66 Visited on July 15, 2013. Walked over from Chinatown, quite the walk, need to figure out how to cross the bigger road, but a nice walk through a quiet neighbourhood. Took me about 45 minutes to walk over from Macquire, with one wrong turn and some back tracking. Mainly Czech beers, some German as well. Czech and German food. Very good, no great, service from the guy at the bar! Very talkative, knowledgeable. offered free small samples of I wanted of the tap selection. I ate the schnizel with fries and a garden salad plus tomatoe chutney that swas sweet and smokey, nice. Had two Czech beers from taps. Some music playing, heard Guns n’ Roses and otehr rock. Card machine wasn’t working, cash only this night. Quite out of the center, but if you crave some nice well kept Czech and German beer and food, this is a nice place indeed. |
60 Nice little place serving mainly Czech beers. Small, a bit loud - presumably once a restaurant now converted to a bar, so lacks a bit in ambiance. Service is excellent and friendly. Small selection of beers - but ones you rarely see elsewhere. Food selection looks reasonable - but I just had a snack which was good. |
