Ram Restaurant and Brewery - Northgate

Chain burger joint with a brewpub in the back. Food is overpriced and not at all exciting, beer is not very interesting either. But they are making their own beer and are adding new brews often, so not the worst place to stop by.

It’s pretty hard to dislike this place for anything other than the fact that it all seems to have come boxed up in a build-a-bar kit, but that’s how it always is with a chain place. You go in knowing that, and, once you decide to go for whatever reason, you relax your hopes of finding some truly unique character to the space. That way, if you do find something awesomely personal, you can be pleasantly surprised. No surprises here, but nothing serving as a huge drawback either. They do, though, have a talented brewer in the house. His best kegs tend to show up in beer nerd hangouts, rather than on premise, as far as I know. The taps here seemed filled with corporate mainstream offerings, but they’re serviceable as needed. The Mall Walker was on, the Abbey, the St Mick’s. Anyway, the place: you walk in to what is in fact a mall, and makes no bones about it. Kind of a position of livelihood for most Rams around here. It’s right next to the front archway, in fact. Great big dining room with just a booth-high wall closing off the bar area. Huge banks of flat screen around the top of the bar back, which is in the round. 25 foot glass walls separate the brewroom. Showy. The food is passable corporate pub grub, hamburgers are the safest bet for those looking for flavor. Ribs, cheesy/dippy appetizers, and so on. I can easily see going back to this place, especially when there’s a game or something--if nothing else springs to mind. What’s very convenient about choosing to stop by the Ram is that you can see the parking lot from the freeway and decide to go based on crowds.

Found ourselves lost coming out of Ballard, then low and behold we meet up with i5 at northgate. I happen to know there is a Ram there. So the family and I stop in for lunch. Big open typical mall brewpub set up. But nice. Somewhat corporate, but clean and well run. Food was pretty darn good and the beer was decent as well. Good kids menu.

Started my Sunday up in Seattle off at the Ram Bighorn Brewery (Northgate). It was tucked in with the Northgate Mall so it was easy to find and the parking at the time was very abundant. It had the look of the similar Ran Bighorns I have stopped at before. Big huge Silo outside to indicate they have something brewing there. The brewery was tucked in the back and it was pretty big from what I could see. Over 20 TV’s going like crazy and the NFL games where in full display. If you had a favorite team you could see them in your special viewing area while drinking Ram Beer’s and eating the pub food. The service was actually pretty good they had some idea f the beers and where able to guide me to the specials. I had an Oktoberfest due to it just felt right for the timing. The place was clean the bar was huge and if you do not like to shop but the family wants to shop you could spend a nice afternoon drinking and watching sports. The beer was nicely brewed and I enjoyed myself.
