“Zeer mooi gebouw en hotel van de Lodge groep. Maar een mooi gebouw proef je niet in het glas. Ik vond het eerder een saaie bierkaart, het eten tja zo zijn er tienduizenden zaken in de regio“

“Restaurant attached to the brewery. Modern and quite stylish yet with a strong marketing smell... All there beers can be tasted (7) plus some other bottles oddly. Menu focuses on bbq plus a list of main dishes, appetisers, lunch dishes. Very slick overall presentation, but it doesn’t quite reach that level when it comes to taste. The burger was overdone (after explicit demand), taste is of the fatty side for all dishes. Not really a home made appeal here. A shame. Some goes for the beer, except perhaps the Carte Blanche. Friendly but a bit uninterested service. It’s a decent place to visit, but for the food just take the bbq and for the beer it’s interesting as long as you can tick.“

“Bit unorganized-looking , big warehouse with crates sorted by no clear system. Good selection though, some locals, some struise, some cantillon, some 3f , some whatever. Nothing truly special , nothing rare, nothing cheaper than average, ... its a good place if you live nearby, but I would not seek it out.“

“Restaurant+hotel within an old watermill, whose restoration has been awarded the Europa Nostra prize. Nice selection of Belgian beers, paying special attention to local ales.“

“Visit the store today, real dark place. With some beers which were just to old. Not a real good service. But you could check it out if you are in the area“

“Pelgrims has TWO stores, one with only the popular Belgian beers and one with EVERYTHING. If you don’t feel like you walked into beer Mecca, you’re in the wrong shop. Tell the guy at the register you’re here for beer and he’ll send you to the right store, which is around the block. Tons of glasses, too, super cheap.“

“Visited 12/05/2012. Warehouse style building, not much arrangement to speak of, sodas on one side, beers on the other, some wines and a small ’craft’ beer selection by the counter along with a few good gift packs. All beers are in a 24 bottle pack with a spread sheet giving the price breakdown. The singles are all very well priced, I did not spend over 1€75 for a bottle with many costing under 1€. I had the impression of getting a lot of vintage because of the dust on the bottles, but I guess that was just the overall state of the shop. Some small local breweries on hand along with Cantillon and 3F all well priced. Selection is alright, although plenty of usual suspects typical to Belgium are to be found. I stopped there for the local stuff and found what I needed. Not much in terms of atmosphere or even service.“

“I love this place - I get the feeling many Belgians visit this place for their bottled water & coca-cola, but I’ve seen a few beer connoisseurs walking the aisles with lists as well. What I like best is the price - amazing value, the average price per bottle is like 1.25 Euro or something like that. That said, the variety is second-to-none. I’ve found tons of interesting beers to try here, and they always have my favorites in stock as well. Decent location, if not a little hard to find. Closed Sunday.“

“Irish pubs in Belgium are a dime a dozen, generally. This one in the outskirts of Wolfsdonk gets good marks from me because they are one of the few small places that serve a good selection of oude gueuze and oude kriek in addition to all the usual Irish pub suspects, plus a very basic selection of common Belgians. Sundays they open at 9:30AM till whenever and serve a terrific Irish breakfast, for which you have to make a reservation -- well worth it. Snacks are also decent. Nice low-key ambiance, and terrific Irish music (think Waterboys and Pogues). Big emphasis on Orval and Trappists, with the owner an Orval Ambassadeur 2005-2006, and different ages of Orval at good prices. Worth a visit, especially on Sunday.“

“Hit this place on my way back from Westvleteren. Nice little store with a decent selection of great/good belgian beers and proper glassware. Picked up 15 bottles of Cantillon (Fou Fone, Lou Pepe Kriek/Framboise, & Vinegronne)“

“A huge selection of all sorts of beers. Really like the three main "sections". First off, there was a shelve with really obscure beers which they didn’t even sell in crates, only by piece. Second was the "big bottle and geuze shelf" which was quite impressive to see. Just for the reference, the (smaller bottles of the) geuzes are also in the aisles in crates. Thirdly was the "Trappist corner", which is, oddly enough, in the soft-drinks-part of the shop. All the trappist beers, in small AND big bottles are to be found over there. We would describe this shop as being "beer heaven". Don’t expect too much of the service except for the registry, where they are helpful.“
