| 62 /100 RIVERSIDE BREWERY, BUXTON ROAD “We have visited Bakewell several times but never made it along to the Thornbridge Brewery Tap until this year. It's almost a mile from the centre of town, initially not the most pleasant of walks but you can cross an old bridge and walk along the other side of the river and everything improves immensely. The Brewery Tap is a little unwelcoming on entry, something about booked tables and waiting with no-one around to help, we decided to ignore the notice and grabbed a table, of which there are many lined up before you get to the long bar. A queue had formed at the bar such is the lack of staff, but the chap was pretty efficient at keeping it all going. Lots of the normal Thornbridge beers to go at but I did manage to sort out a flight of 3 I needed. It's pretty chilly in there but this is normal for this type of set up. It's worth a visit.“ |

The indoor area seats around 200 people and during the summer months there is an outdoor seated area too. They have 16 beers on cask / tap, plus a decent bottle / can selection too. Comfort food is also available. Friendly and helpful staff. Working WiFi indoors. Easily walkable from Bakewell, but there is plenty of parking available for those who prefer to drive.“ |
| 66 /100 RIVERSIDE BREWERY, BUXTON ROAD “Visited 12/7/2021. Pouring with rain, we parked at the far end of the busy brewery site and ran in to the tap room. Nicely laid out, in an industrial and somewhat bleak style. Took a while to get served from somewhat inattentive staff. Got a couple of flights to share, from the list of around 20 beers on tap, majority of which I’d had before. The on site shop was good, with some rarities. Glad we called in but somehow I’d imagined something a bit better.“ |

| 58 /100 RIVERSIDE BREWERY, BUXTON ROAD “Been here a few times since the taproom moved over into the barrel store, and each time I’m left wondering when it will ever get finished. It feels very temporary as it is, with the bar looking nailed together. The bogs are hidden behind plywood, and the furniture comprises some messy tables and a few chairs slung around. The fridges are nearly empty, which is frankly ridiculous, and the staff often seem fairly disinterested and unwelcoming. It’s just about worth calling in if you’re very nearby, but other than that it warrants a wide berth.“ |

My reason for going in was that they were advertising a Beer Festival but on entering it was mostly Marston's own stable plus a couple from regional breweries. Little on the beer front of interest in here.“ |
| 82 /100 Joiners Arms Micro Pub (Bar) 1 RUTLAND BUILDINGS, BUXTON ROAD “Newly opened Micro Pub in the centre of Bakewell selling around 6 Cask Ales and a few more craft keg beers. It's friendly & jolly in here, good conversation, dogs are welcome. Basic seating and tables, clean and bright throughout. The beers are well chosen. A much needed addition to the Bakewell scene and should be sought out.“ |
| 44 /100 Cheese & Wine Emporium (Grocery Store) 2 WATER STREET “We (me, Loz, Isobel and Ferret) visited here Saturday 17th August 2018. I'm putting this rating on here because it does sell some decent beer, such as a few core beers from Thornbridge along with some Titanic and other bigger independents. But it's on here more as a warning that it also sells a lot of crap beer, the sort of beer with sexist cartoony type labels with a content (beer) inside that is almost as offensive. I won't even mention what they're called because it really angers me that they're even for sale. It's fairly centrally located in Bakewell maybe perhaps over to the side nearer the river and showground edge of town. It's a nice looking shop but sadly the offensive beers are not the only crap they sell, there are too many overpriced flavoured cheeses and tourist 'nick nack' type tat. But if you do want a good beer or a sexist bottle of crap, when you enter the beers are straight ahead and also on the right hand side.“ |
| 66 /100 Red Lion, Bakewell (Bar) THE SQUARE, “We (me, Loz, Isobel and Ferret) visited here Sunday 19th August 2018 after Peakender. Its a nice solid old place, quite central in Bakewell. We had Berry (dog) with us so sat in the bar, I think that there was another room off to the left hand side. This room was a good sized rectangular room, stone floor, simple slightly rustic appearance. The bar was a on the left hand side halfway along. I had a Peak Ales beer Bakewell Best or something like that, it was a pleasant pint, we stopped for a couple here. Some other Peakender folk were in here, some like us probably camping and others who looked like they were waiting for the next bus to Sheffield, anyway back to the pub, the staff were quick to serve, prices good, beer well kept.“ |

Tour was interesting, but we couldn’t actually go inside the brewery as it was busy with brewing. Weird. We saw it from an office covered with glass wall though. 2 cask and 2 kegs on tap.“ |

| 58 /100 THE SQUARE “Visited on a Friday afternoon in October 2015. This is on the main square in Bakewell, the place is surrounding my emporia peddling tarts and puddings, the hotel is a huge stone place, the bar area is easily accessible and is pretty plush. Getting served is an issue and we had to wait some time for staff to appear. Beer was from the Peak brewery, it was well kept.
I wouldn’t particularly recommend the place, it’s really handy whilst changing buses in Bakewell but that’s about it.“ |

| 56 /100 Peacock Hotel, Bakewell (Bar) BRIDGE STREET “We visited here on Saturday 16th August 2014 only because the pub next door was a Marstons pub whilst this had three pumps given over to Peak Ales. The pub is centrally located close to a Co-op Supermarket car park. It was quite busy on our visit we ordered a half of Peak Ales Swift Nick and Chatsworth Gold both fine but nothing special though £4 for two halves in Derbyshire somewhat surprised me. The place is quite large and looks like it has been extended at some point at the rear where the toilets are, nice flowers outside. I didn’t mind it but there must be better in this town of Thornbridge brewery fame.“ |

The site is just on the outskirts of town and is a large modern facility, there is ample parking and the building is essentially split into two, i.e. on the right is the tasting room and plenty of merchandise such as clothing but also bottles and mini kegs available to purchase. The left hand side of the building is taken up by storage and bottling then moving further left is the brewery itself. Staff are always friendly and if Dom is about he will happily show you around the brewery side. Worth poping into if near Bakewell.“ |

Webshop consists of most of their regular beers plus a few of their bigger numbers such as sour brown and bracia. Clothing and non beer items also available.
I was specifically after a special offer on Bracia - £25.50 for 3 bottles with free delivery.
Made my order on a Thursday lunchtime and the beers arrived safely and well packed on the following Monday.
Would definately use again.“ |

Stone walls, lots of wood and comfortable seating make for a welcoming experience. Add excellent lighting and oil burners where you might expect candles and the overall impression is of quality. Beer quality is good with local Peak Ales on tap and food looks delicious, though expensive. But that is expected of the area.“ |
