“2018-08-17. Primarily a retail store located on a farm, with try before you buy samples available. Mind the GPS directions - we drove past it at first - look for the hop farm! :) The brewer was super friendly. We sampled all their beers and picked up a few to go along with some maple syrup from the neighboring farm. Beers were all pretty decent. The grisette stood out for us today. Well worth a visit if you are in the area. “

“2018-08-17. Decor as an upscale beach house style pub vibe to it. Nice small patio in the back. Just their own beer on tap, with several local brewers available in cans/bottles. The menu is a bit burger heavy but has several other options too. I went with a pulled pork sandwich - the meat was delicious but the sauces and toppings came off as too sweet for me. Not unpleasant but not what I was in the mood for. Decent spot. The tap list at the Black Dog down the road has a bit more range. “

“2018-08-17. Interesting spot, decent sized patio, dining room and a large bar area offers different feeling spaces all at one venue. Some cool large murals in the bar area. Bar and dining room are quiet compared to the very in demand patio today. 9 Ontario craft taps have some decent options but nothing particularly out of the mainstream, includes several local area options. The tap list next door at the Black Dog had a few more interesting options today but we stopped here so I could tick a new to me brewery :) We had just eaten so didn't check the food options. “

“Located on the main strip of Bayfield, The Black Dog is the definitive beer oasis in the craft beer desert of Huron County. In fact, even by city standards this place has an impressive range of beers on tap. My girl and I came here this past summer for dinner and drinks. At first we sat on the patio but the atmosphere was so deafeningly silent - with a bunch of depressed middle-aged couples staring about and refusing to talk to each other - that we decided to move inside. The interior sports a huge sit-down bar and probably thirty or so tables throughout the dining section. Lots of loud chatter going on with music in the background and a stage for live performers in the back corner of the restaurant. Service on the patio was abysmal as the waitress kept bringing out our drinks, appetizers, and mains even though we asked to sit inside before ordering. However, once we moved we received excellent service from a bright and vibrant young lady who managed to save the evening from disaster. Beer selection is 20 taps of premium domestic and import brands. I went with a Delirium Tremens and Pilsner Urquell and also noticed Wellington Best Bitter, Erdinger Weissbier, Affligem Blonde, Stiegl Pils, Steam Whistle, Creemore Lager, Martson’s Pedigree, Fuller’s London Pride, De Koninck Amber Ale, and St. Ambroise Oatmeal Stout. Food is good as I enjoyed my caesar salad and veggie curry. My girlfriend thought her house mix salad and chicken supreme were both very tasty. We also split a delicious Irish whiskey brownie. Overall, if it weren’t for the initial bad service and strange atmosphere outside, I would’ve rated this place 80/100. But we still managed to have a great time here and the beer selection makes this an obvious destination in the area. Worth a visit.“
