“From visit 07/12/2023- stopped in on a rainy night, wife and I only customers on a Friday night. Steam punk vibe of the place, food options, and about 20 taps. Service was meh. They have recently closed, food was disgusting.“

“I remember this place that added a brewery to it’s offerings as somewhere to stop after some hard partying at Fairly Straight- uh, Ferris State, and grab a bite to eat at 4am. I also remember it as a place that got infamous on this site for all the wrong reasons by trying some shameless self promotion. So... visited on Dec. 21, 2015. Sort of a precut pseudo industrial place with plenty of seating. And absolutely dead for noon service. Service was friendly enough, and had plenty of options for grub. Beer- in house (contract brewed with multiple locations ?!?!) assuming, 10 selections, only had room for 2 (hey, I just drove 23 hrs. straight- give me a break!). Overall- it works to try different beers for ticks, and unfortunately, that’s about it.“

“This place has just about everything. It’s scary. Limes. Kitty litter. Motor Oil. Cake mix. Bait. Kegs. A phone. Yep. Accepting credit, cash, locally reputable checks, ebt, and redeemable bottle deposit refunds. Best selection in Big Rapids. State minimums on liquor. Knowledgable staff. DNR tags.“

“A natural breaking point from Grand Rapids to Traverse City but the substance isn’t worth the stop. A corny as hell name and decor, especially the old side. A good selection of styles but nothing was excellently crafted. Tasted a lot of adjuncts, seemed to just dump fake vanilla or whatever in some. Can’t recommend a stop.“

“Visited 5-17-2012: After seeing it listed on the other site, as well as listed in several MI beer publications, it’s time for it to be added! Dropped by for lunch with the wife in tow- a great day for the patio to use. Ambiance- think upscale joint out in middle of nowhere- like the Prada Store in Marfa. Service was slow (20 minutes for a cheese plate, for real?!?! asked the old lady), but maybe they were "testing" the stout they had on tap. Food was great, and it was local so that’s a big plus. Talked at length with one of the brewers- they make 30-45 gallon batchs in the kitchen where the food is made, no plans to bring in big time brewing equipment- so you know it’s relatively fresh, and the low number selections with what’s available. Overall- I hope they succeed- it’s nice to see the hometown doing well with things that are outside of the norm from the local surrounding area.“

“"Grunst Brothers- ON THIS SITE?!?!? HA HA HA!",I thought to myself when I saw it added- it was just a liquor store with some hunting and fishing gear when I grew up there. So I checked it out- selection of liquor, wine, and a whole row of craft beer. A MAJOR plus is being able to make your own 6 pack- where as most places in the beer universe are starting to get away from that. The help was hired, it showed, but at least they understood English. Overall- The place is my dream come true. Alcohol, Tobacco, and Firearms- just get some grilling supplies from Meijers and you’re good to go!“

“My wife grew up a few blocks away from this place and it was a regular stop back when we would visit the in-laws. In those days it was a decent party store (as we call them in Michigan) and also a good source for fishing, hunting, camping and other outdoor supplies. Now it has expanded to have an excellent selection of micro brews and imports. The selection here is on par with the best bottle shops in the area. The store is also a beer art museum with dozens of beer art mirrors lining the walls, many specific to Michigan and the Great Lakes. Ambiance is on par with a typical northern Michigan bait shop, which is why I give it a 5 out of 5. Prices are a bit steep on the more exotic brews, but you can still get bait, supplies and DNR permits along with fancy beer.“

“Not much to llo at from the outside. It’s an actual sporting goods store, of sorts. With fishing tackle, and all. Keep in mind this place is OLD, and is shows, but that adds to the character! The beer selection is excellent. This is the first place to turn me on to Founders Nemesis. They had it stashed behind the counter... Very friendly and competent staff on hand.“

“(Visited 7-5-08) While up in Michigan attending to some family matters, this was one of the first places that I ventured off to on my own for refreshment and stocking up. The place is overall a little small, even more so after the move from the old Kmart/Carter strip mall across the street a few years ago. The clerk was polite and nice enough. Food- standard C-store gurb. Selection- some decent liquor, beer selection is a bit small with the traditional BMC fare but it does have an isle and several cooler shelves devoted to Michigan brewers (Bells, Founders, Arcadia, Dark Horse, even New Holland and Arbor) and other independent brewers from across the nation. Overall- this isn’t some place to search for- but if for some reason you get stuck in West Central MI (or attend FSU) and don’t feel like going all the way to GR for a small good beer run, just stop by and there is bound to be something on the shelves that won’t make your throat dry for much longer.“
