Hop Pocket Wines (Beer Store)
THE HOP POCKET
“Hop Pocket wines is situated within a typically English garden centre complex in the Herefordshire countryside, similar to the Welsh border Charlies chain, which encompasses all manner of independently-run craft, clothing, garden and furniture sections. Hop Pocket wines is a unit situated within all this, stocking an admirable array of regional real ale, cider and English wine. Those visiting from outside the region (Worcestershire, Herefordshire, Staffordshire) will likely find 80% of the 200 or so bottles here new to them, I certainly found a new cider producer, alongside a new Gwynt Y Draig. Little in the way of modern craft styles, but well worth a stop if searching for lesser known regional real ale and cider.“

“Enjoyed our visit to this 2018 Good Beer Guide pub yesterday. Lovely big wood burning fireplace and a warren of rooms to explore. Good choice of cask ales and ciders. Ales from Timothy Taylor, Purple Moose, Wye Valley, Tiny Rebel, Salopian and Otter. Our Tiny Rebel CWTCH and Taylor's Golden Best were fine.“

Chase Inn (Bar)
4 BRIDGE STREET
“Called in while visiting another in the area, and found it to be a large pub with dining and drinking areas. Comfy sofa area by a wood burning fire. 3 cask ales available, 2 from Wye Valley which we chose and enjoyed and the other was Otter Bitter. There is another room at the back where there is pool, TV and darts.“

“Nice selection of local beers including a few breweries I haven’t tried before. Service was very friendly and they do some good deals on pricing if you buy a few bottles-which I did. Well worth visiting.“

“I thought that I had rated this place before as I tend to visit here quite frequently. Please be aware it is actually in Herefordshire and whilst it carries a WR (Worcester) postcode it is still in fact closer to Hereford rather than Worcester. The range focuses on local beers (mostly West Midlands) and over the last 2-3 years the cider and Perry range has increased significantly. Prices are pretty good and service good as well. The shop is actually situated in the corner of a larger shop that appears to sell all sorts of crap and tat. I tend to focus on harder to get local ciders but there are some good beers, there are also a few ropey numbers I’ll not mention names however one or two of the smaller producers in Herefordshire aren’t great.“

“Huge selection of local beers and ciders has now taken over at least half the shop - think they’ll soon need to remove the "wine" from their name? Regular meet the brewer and tasting events (Montys when I was there). Very friendly & helpful staff. Well worth a visit if you’re nearby. The craft village looks pig ugly from outside, but has plenty of craft shops & a playground to keep the missus/kids occupied whilst you peruse the beers! I’d recommend trying some of the produce of the Handmade Scotch Egg Company while you’re there too (well hidden around the back of the craft village).“

“Decent wine shop in a "craft destination" which has a cafe, wine shop, scotch egg shop and other randon stuff. the wine shop majors on wine (surprise) but also sells a good range of UK bottled beers, quite a lot of it local, plus loads of cider too. Calls the beer "real ales" when most of it isn’t but there you go...! A decent range and worth a look if you’re passing, but don’t make a special long journey.“
