72 /100 Jolly Farmer, Bramley (Bar) HIGH STREET This is a lovely old villlage pub. Very narrow so it can seem crowded, especially when there is a long snaking queue for the carvery. Exposed beams and split level - not sure if these are really modern additions. Brewing and farming paraphanalia all over the walls - OK, these are standard but there is an impressive amount of brewery related stuff up. 5 real ales on hand pump, plus a 6th unused hand pump. The Greene King IPA may be a regular (?), alongside three Great Heck beers, one from Crafty and one from Cottage. However what is really unusual is that they have Kwak on tap - certainly not common outside of big cities IMO. They also have a couple of more unusual kegs such as Rothaus Pils and Belhaven Scottish Stout, which again you don’t see that often around here. Food very good. Staff are polite but not overly so - the serving staff may well have been busy but barman did not seem that interested. Would come more regularly if it wasn’t a 40 minute drive away. Not sure how long it would take to walk from Shalford station? |
