“This brewery has its own aircraft, a Lockheed P-3 Orion that surveilles submarines by detecting magnetic anomalies. I flew in one once, the E-2 Hawkeye variant, off the coast of Iran from the carrier USS Eisenhower when I was a flight surgeon on the much more spacious Boeing E-3B Sentry. But I digress. As you might guess, this place has a definite aviation theme, with models and aircraft bits all over the place. You enter through the working brewery where the gorgeous aroma of boiling wort titillates your nostrils and taste buds. You continue to the taproom with its serving bar and just three stools. Past that are a bunch of restaurant tables open to the beergarden in good weather. Lots of options here, ranging from picnic tables in tents or en plein air to picnic tables in A-frames covered in plastic that look like they could be used to bake tourists in the summertime. They have a decent variety of beers - West and East Coast IPAs, kettle sours and a nice funky saison; lactose content is clearly identified when present. Flights of four 5-ounce glasses. Permanent food truck does decent-enough wood fired pizza available by the slice or whole pie. Unlimited parking. A worthy and interesting stop.“

Byrnes Irish Pub (Restaurant)

“Never a dull moment in this Irish styled pub, lotsa soccer jerseys and TV’s all over the place. Seems like they never run out of Guinness, and they always keep a good amount of Maine breweries on tap. Their Irish nachos do kick ass along with most of the rest of their food.“

“When in Brunswick, you probably won’t find much else. Oddly enough, ignore the big ass Budweiser sign on the front and the fact that the place looks like a ramshackle podunk dump because you might be surprised what you can find here.“

“Best selection in Brunswick. A ton of variety, bombers, samplers, six-packs, and singles. You can’t go wrong with at least 500 different types of beer available. Also a ton of snacks and an interesting "rack" at 9 o’clock when you walk in. (This place used to be on Ratebeer and must’ve been removed.)“
