70 /100 Moon And Starfish (JDW) (Bar) 1 MARINE PARADE EAST Large and sprawling Spoons on the Clacton coastal road. Many salt of the earth displaced East Londoners here. Service was decent (on the bar) and excellent with the food, they asked us exactly when we wanted each course and delivered accordingly! Better than many posh restaurants! Not a bad tap selection here and picked up a couple of decent ticks, could have three or four more but being designated driver. Only complaint here is that there is a lotta people smoking here, right outside the doors of the pub and the sea breeze just pushes it all back inside but other than that a pretty decent and characterfull Spoons. |
64 /100 Moon And Starfish (JDW) (Bar) 1 MARINE PARADE EAST In a corner building on the seafront road opposite the pier and tourist gardens, both of the latter obscure the pub from having a sea view, this despite it’s ground floor being elevated just about ground level. This does though give it a decent patio area that looks down on the cars and tourists below during the summer months offering a prime spot in this small seaside resort. The pub itself is in the classic style of Wetherspoons with a decent enough soft furnished finish. The ’L’ shaped bar stocks plenty of rotating ales over two rows of hand pumps. |
