78 /100 CLAYGATE STATION, THE PARADE
“Brewery Tap for Brightwater brewery, both of which are in Claygate (which is a stopping point on the Guildford to London Waterloo line). Described as the smallest pub in Britain it's the size of a small summer house / large beach hut in which there is space for 3 casks, one fridge and a selection of the brewers bottles (4 on this visit). Seating is outside in a covered area where the beers are served in plastic glasses due to its location which is at the entrance to Claygate station. Visited on a Thursday evening (they generally only open late afternoon Thursday-Saturday) arriving as Alex the owner/brewer was setting up the tables and chairs ahead of a 5pm opening and was warmly welcomed and chatted to him and friendly locals for an hour before carrying on my journey to Waterloo (and talking of loos, Alex is the key holder for the loo on the station platform now known as Platform 4!). A man of many talents clearly. A visit is highly recommended.“
