“This is a group of caring meadmakers just trying to make the best fermented honey in Vermont. Nicest meadmakers I’ve yet encountered.“

“McGillicuddy’s! Hell yeah! Though a small family owned chain, it’s worth it to go here. Just like the other locations, taps are always clean. Always good service. Decent value for the Colchester, but then again, you probably won’t find anything else for a hot meal and some good beers in the area.“

“Cool - I get to be the first reviewer! A bit out of the way, which perhaps explains the lack of reviews. This is actually two labels under one roof; a single license, but both Groennfell and Havoc meads are brewed here by separate head brewers with autonomy. Both labels specialize in dry and semi-dry meads, which is a bit unusual in my experience. They are extremely personable and happy to talk about their product or other things in the mead and beer world. The space is pretty warehousy, with a very tiny tasting bar and the productiion space walled off by cases of mead and ropes. Six total taps when I was there, including four Groennfeld and two Havoc. Flights of four (you choose) are free (!) and pints or half pints are available for sale, despite the lack of food sales. Weird state laws. The core meads are available in cans and bottles, and are distributed in the area. Meads were interesting. I am not an expert, but I enjoyed a couple of them, particularly the honey flavors without the super-sweetness that I have previously encountered in my tasting. I enjoyed my visit and wish these guys well.“

“Visited last January with jamesewelch. Unassuming Irish pub off the road. They were about 30 minutes to closing, I remember, but still happily took our orders and didn’t feel the need to rush us. I was visually surprised at how many different beers there actually were on tap here. Expect Queen City, Burlington Brewing, Zero Gravity, and other Chittenden County locals -- some even a little on the obscure side. Enjoyable burgers, too, which seems to be rarer and rarer these days. It may not be a traditional "beer destination" like Farmhouse, but rather a divey spot with a very decent taplist, which is just as important -- sometimes even more so. For good, amazingly priced local beer and a relaxed environment, this is your best bet in Colchester. I wish they listed their beer selection online, but it’s a minor issue.“

“Nice selection of local and regional beer. Food offerings are something similar to American pub food. Sister restaurant to McGillicuddy’s in Williston and Montepelier. Half-price burger specials later in evenings. Good beer selection from local breweries.“

“This place is located right next door to the Stop & Shop, making it very easy to find. Huge store, but the space is mostly designated for wines and hard liquors. The back wall is all coolers for beer. There is also a very, very short section of shelving designated for warm singles. Within the warm shelf section, I found Corsendonk Brown and Pale, Hitachino Nest Weizen, De Dolle Oerbier, Unibroue Edition 2004, Morimoto Soba, and a dozen or so other singles, all of which were top shelf beers. In the coolers, I found some interesting sixers including Hop Wallop, the full Wolaver’s line (witbier, brown ale, pale ale, IPA), and several others that I can’t recall. All in all, the selection was good, but not something I would make a special trip for. If you’re up this way, stop in here, and take a 2 minute drive down the street to Broadway Wine & Spirits as well. Between the two, you should find a nice selection. “
