| 66 /100 THE PLOUGH INN “To echo earlier moments this pubs is in a lovely little hamlet, reached via windy lanes. At some point this pub was ready refurbished and possibly new management? Can’t see I read that now, however it must have been revamped since the 2014 review. Oak, stone and brickwork interiors. At least half set aside for food but I appeared other tables were available for drinking. Long thin beer garden, which is reached via a small courtyard, which is what where the brewery and an events room at found. Relatively busy for a Monday. There is also a small village shop that the pub operations. Fair play, whilst the food was pretty good gastro-pub style, the management have recognised that the community is also important and organise various events (a bridge night was being advertised). In terms of booze, the Crooked Farrow is permanent with one other revolving Leith Hill brew. Only one of the two guest pumps was on, Tillingbourne today. I didn’t spot any bottles in the pub or shop. The shop had around 8 local beers (Hogs Back, Forking, Tillingbourne and Firebird) and 4 ciders. Food went down well. Can’t comment on prices as I wasn’t paying. Staff were helpful. Will be back, a useful midpoint to meet up with relatives from Sussex.“ |

| 58 /100 THE PLOUGH INN “Visited on Saturday 7th June around 3pm.
Located in the picturesque Surrey Hills the Plough Inn is a traditional looking village boozer with a small microbrewery (Leith Hill established 1996) at the rear.
4 or 5 locals were in the bar as we arrived, a rambling old set up serving all 3 of their own beers (this has increased from 2 since my only previous visit in 2010/11 time). All 3 were also available in bottles.
Guest beer was a Sheps seasonal, there was also a cask cider.
This place gets mixed reviews if you check out various pub review sites but the service (I think it was the 2 owners) was OK on our visit.
We chose to sit in the sizeable beer garden at the rear with an elevated view over the fields behind.
The 2 house beers I had were Ok and perfectly drinkable. On my previous visit the Crooked Furrow was laced with diacetyl so I tipped half of it away and didn’t bother with the Tallywhacker after being asked for 50p for a taster !!!
No such problems this time anyhow!
The pricing here is pretty outrageous mind, I think a pint was £4.40 or £4.50 for 3.5/4% beer brewed out the back that is simply ’adequate’ !
2 half’s of own beer, Pimms & Lemonade, 2 packets of nuts and a packet of crisps = £13.50 !
