“Awesome place. The only SoCal sake brewery in 2023. Well hidden behind a fence with a small sign, which says to call a phone number to open the gate. I did and 30seconds later the gate rolled open. I walked 50m down through an industrial warehouse to the tasting room, which is awesome. 10 tables, all empty, except for another crazy sake homebrewer visiting from Dallas. 7 sakes and 8 beers on tap, including 2 nitro beers. All the sakes were fantastic. My number one recommendation for SoCal. Super friendly brewer serving. Flight of 6 for $20. 5.0“

“Strip mally location, lot parking. Shares space with a pizza shop. Decent sized inside, good vibe actually. Good service. No flights; 8oz pours is the tickers choice. I ended up just trying one beer, which was a pretty solid hazy, plus a free sample of the coffee barleywine. The place seems to have be worth checking out.“

“A wonderful beer bar in Downtown Covina. Nice wood decor with a HUGE cooler and 21 taps coming out of it. Magnetic signs let you know what’s on tap, some bottle beers as well. Great local and obscure selections from all styles and ABV. Food is a little eccentric but tasty. I highly recommend this place. Its my watering hole when I’m in the area.“

“Pretty decent sized tasting room with a small brewing setup. They had six beers on tap, kind of your standard styles (blonde, pale, IPA, stout, etc.). They did have a saison, but it wasn’t very good. Beers on the whole are pretty mediocre/average. I guess it works for your average bro in this area, though.

Service was friendly and fast. Plenty of places to sit and enjoy your beer. A small food cart inside selling hot dogs during our visit. They did have a root beer available as well, which my girlfriend and I both thought was pretty good (much better than the beers).“

They’re finally open, and in a large warehouse too. The space is probably three times as large as most other tiny breweries that are opening these days which is great because it means that they have room for a lot of guests. When I was there (on opening night) it was pretty much standing room only but there are a decent number of tables and there is an overflow area in the room next door. They have a counter but no bar stools, which would be nice but I could see why they’d want to keep that area open. Parking isn’t bad either. There aren’t a ton of spots in the lot but there is a lot of street parking.

They only had four beers on during my visit and I think the best was the British Pale Ale. It was kind of citrusy which I wasn’t expecting. The double pale, which I was hoping was going to be the best, was actually the worst as it had some butter/diacetyl in it. The brown porter and blonde were fine. So for a first run on all the beers they certainly aren’t bad. We’ll see what they come up with in subsequent batches. I’m considering joining the growler club, not so much because I want to drink a half gallon of beer but to support them. Flights are $5 for 3 tasters and full pints were $6 for the double pale and $5 for everything else. Very nice people and while I understand that they aren’t trained as bartenders they could probably use a bit of training on how to fill glasses and how to quickly move people through the line. That said I had a good time and I’ll be stopping back in when I can.“

When I added this place a couple days ago I didn’t realize they had just opened. Drdrinkall420 called me yesterday to tell me that he’s being a loser and ditching Stuffed Sandwich to go here for a bottle share for their grand opening. So after a spaghetti sandwich and a Thrillseeker IPA I headed over for a glass of Weihenstephaner hefe and to open a couple of bottles. The place was packed with sweaty bearded bros.

I hadn’t actually been in downtown Covina in a number of years so it was a nice surprise to see a lot of bars and restaurants doing well. There is a sizeable parking lot directly behind the place too so don’t worry about finding street parking. Inside is pretty narrow with some tables along each side of the room and a couple in the middle. The bar makes an L-shape and has limited seating. All the way in the back (another 20-30 yards beyond the bar) are the bathrooms. Despite having 21 taps there were only a few that I actually wanted to drink, but that’s how it always goes. The highlights were the newest Stone Enjoy By (December 13, 2013 I think), Weihenstephaner hefe, and the Big Whig IPA from Noble Ale Works. Speaking of Noble Ale Works, the hipster dude that bartends at Noble with the huge metal rings stretching his ears out was bartending here. Also, one of the servers from Congregation in Azusa was serving. And another of the servers formerly of Congregation was (in some capacity) running the bottle share. I guess bartenders move around quite a bit, or else they work multiple jobs through out the week.

It sounds like in the future it’ll be a $10 minimum tab to participate in the bottle share, which I’m fine with. Last night they had no miminum and every cheap ass in the building that was bragging about the rare beers they’ve tried was also bragging about how they didn’t have to pay anything that night. Jeez. I bought the hefe for $7 (the beer prices are high, didn’t check the food though it looked good) and left the $10 bill.

I noticed that there is a Metrolink station a couple blocks up Citrus. I’ll definitely be coming back somewhat regularly.“

“Visited June 27, 2013 for the first time in about 5 years.

Interesting place. Still the same owners (father and daughter), still the same set up, and even some of the same beers still present. Lots of old stuff that you might not expect to see at a corner liquor store. They’ve got all the AleSmith you can handle which is awesome but they also had Stone XI (seriously, the original, not the Self Righteous) and Avery 14 (6 years old now, and buy one get one free). I really wanted to get a bottle of the Avery to try it out as that was pretty good at one point. Instead I opted for a six pack of 2011 BIgfoot that has been aged in the fridge. Opened one the same day and it was pretty good.

Prices are about what you’d expect from a liquor store, namely that they’re slightly higher than the big chain places, but not bad for some of the vintage stuff they have. Service was very friendly and pointed out some of the sales. Need to go back and clean out the stash of Fantomes at 12.99.“

“On Barancca and San Fernando in Covina. You walk in and smell their cigar humodor. All the way in the back they have about 6 doors of out of date beer and a few new ones mixed in. I like the Korean lady who works the counter most of the time. She talked a good game about some of the beers, likely regurgitating what some of the smarter customers have told her. Also easy on the eyes. The selection is quite interesting. Stone, Vintage Stone, a few Lost Abbey, Nongne-O,Jolly Pumpkin, Port Brewing, and Old Old Avery. If you are going to go there, I suggest getting thing that can take sitting on the shelf for four years in a liquor store. Or pick up something you know is fairly new. The prices for some of these vintage strong ales and such are nicely priced. Overall, an interesting place to visit, and they have some hidden gems that are obviously not being sold.“

“Great selection for such a small place. I found the service a little lacking. I was sold a beer with no cap (foil covered the opening), and they were cool about taking it back. Other than that, the guys at the checkout have never been that helpful or friendly. The prices are pretty comparable, but you can find better prices at somewhere like bevmo.“

“Herbjones, I gave this the exact same score as you (not intentionally of course.) Man, how did you ever find this place? You would never expect this place to have such an awesome selection. I got some nice Alesmith beers, plus many hard to find Belgians. The owners were very cool people, too. The lady at the checkout had a comment about each beer I bought (from her personal experience.)“
