| 72 /100 Brouwershuys (Bar) GROTE MARKT 19 “I thought that we had been here many years ago, and perhaps we had but I had just not got around to rating. This time we visited here Saturday 30th April 2022 after a walk and a couple of hours at De Dolle Brouwerij.
This place is a nice bar on the corner of the Grote Markt. Diksmuide is a small place and the Grote Markt is in the centre so there is no point in me trying to explain how to get there, it is difficult to miss.
The bar and seating layout is a dogleg with a reasonable amount of seating. The beer choice is good with most of the usual suspects and a couple of local beers that I was unaware of. The staff and service were good, it had a nice buzz.
My only concern and btw this was not a fault of the bar, was four chaps in their late thirties or early/mid-forties who came in and placed themselves on stools at the bar, nothing happened but you could sense a tense atmosphere, the young barmaid was all of a sudden much less smiley and looked uncomfortable and one or two others incl' be staff and punters looked a little uneasy, we left shortly after. Other than this it was a good place in a nice small town.“ |

The beer list is not really special but they do have all the local brews (Papegaei and Dolle Brouwers a.o.) and also some 3 months old Orval (as they should be). The terrace was filled with local elderly people who seem to know where to enjoy a good drink. They are just off the market square.
The food was good. We ate the Vol au Vin and Stoofvlees, both up to standard with what I am used to in Belgium.
Service was very good. My Orval was not cold enough so was served in an ice bucket (I got it out quickly as it was way too cold already).“ |

A lot of the usual suspects, very few geuzes and krieks (Mort Subite and Boon), if you come for the local brews, they have them. Papegaei, Dolle Brouwers (the usual range), etc.
If you want a nice beer in Diksmuide, this is a good place to sit. For beer geeks there will be little to explore.“ |
