“Visited May 2023. Modern restaurant with a taproom in the basement in a recently renovated historic building. Nice Bohemian dishes along with modern dishes. Good and tasty. 4 beers on tap (10, 11, 12 and 13) in their restaurant. Many more tap and bottled/canned in the taproom refrigerated. A very nice place, lots of space inside, very modern, friendly staff. Your place to go.“

Náš Konzum (Grocery Store)

“Having just missed out on visiting the place last year, managed to visit it this year. A specialty grocery store - it offers an array of artisanal food and drinks, particularly with former - fancy bakery products, various foods from local and foreign specialty producers, etc. But, also, Domažlice not teeming with beer places, its selection is worthy of being a place entry here. The cramped insides have their charm too. There is a fridge with a solid selection of Domažlický pivovar beers - if, for some reason, you're not going to the brewery - and, in the back room, there's a little selection of meads and ciders. When I visited, there were three Bubák ciders (from near České Budějovice) and four Joker ciders (from near Hradec Králové). Fairly sure Motelpogo got other stuff from there before. There was a selection of 4-5 Aspall ciders as well, interestingly. There were some meads in small bottles, souvenir packaging really - from the pretty elusive Včelarství Jiří Smolík. The prices are pretty okay I guess. Didn't break the bank with them. Can't score terribly high, but it's a pretty recommended visit if you manage to get there within working hours - and you might find some other groceries of relevance. The location is by the southwest corner of the town's looong main square, among the arches, no need for further pinpointing.“

“Domažlice, Czech Republic's oldest brewery, was unceremoniously closed by Urquell in the 90s, with the brewery's brand(s) like Purkmistr being taken over by... well... Purkmistr, who, though having property at Domažlice, in the end opened the brew(pub) outside of Plzeň. Fast forward years and the old brewery area was... well, partly used as a culture center for art projects, partly a new Kaufland store. Thankfully, the locals (or rather the local forestry association owning the place (yup)) started on redeveloping a part of the old brewery area. It was due to open earlier than it did I guess, but got postponed by Covid. Basically, the brewery and the pub are on the gorund floor, above them, there's the restaurant - not owned by the same people as the brewery, but still carrying their beers, and I think there's a museum as well, there will be a library above etc. Really cool concept, especially for locals, in the craft beer-starved Domažlice. I think there were at least 6 taps. Not all the beers were in top form - but they do make some excellent lagers when they're not diacetyl-forward like most that time. The pub area is a modern-traditional combo, quite full and lively when we were there - but it was the big town fest so... yeah. Unsure about the service anymore - maybe good? The brewery is beautiful, the closer part will be a part of the brewery museum, they still have some old machines and suchlike preserved from the old brewery, which is cool. All in all, damn, I'm gutted I didn't rate this earlier with a more fresh recollection, but it you're in Domažlice, you will have to visit it, it's that simple. Edit: 2022 update, with Hrabren and ogivlado. Good service, professional. There was some live folk music when we first came in, but not when we returned. The base lagers were all diacetyl-driven, but the 10° was in quite a good shape taste-wise. Interestingly, 5 beers on tap - but they served two more on the festival. The pub, brewpub part has a limited food part - very good utopenec and šulc and quite good škvarková pomazanka (along with liver spread as well), for okay prices - would prefer to get toasted bread with them, but that was fine, along with some hermelín (you have to, weirdly, order a 3-pack) from another local producer, maybe something else. And snacks. Still a must-visit when in town.“
