80 /100 Café De Tijd (Bar) VOORSTRAAT 170 Nice open bar with friendly service, nice selection and good prices. Busy but cosy. We had a nice stay. |
86 /100 Restaurant Post (Restaurant) JOHAN DE WITTSTRAAT 128 Very nice modern place in an old post building. Restaurant, tea room with very fresh and lovely food. Separate beer list with a nice choice of De Molen, Kees, Sori, Lehe, Toppling Goliath, Prairie, ... Small but nice selection. Nice to visit in Dordrecht! |
66 /100 Café De Tijd (Bar) VOORSTRAAT 170 Quite old school Belgian style cafe, decent service, OK prices, beer selection is quite large if fairly conservative. Best place in town, but not saying a lot really. |
66 /100 Café De Tijd (Bar) VOORSTRAAT 170 Probably best beerbar in town. Friendly staff and all right beer menu. Nice to sit outside on a spring evening with the free chippies and ofcourse a good beer. |
68 /100 Stadscafe Rijk (Bar) VOORSTRAAT 260 We visited Café Rijk on Monday 28th September 2015. It is a nice little café situated on Voorstraat but where this street opens up into Scheffersplein which is a small square really formed mainly by the covering over of the canal at this point as it travels through and clearly under the city in places. We sat outside, there was one small bench and a leaner but really I guess most people out here would be those having a fag, still we enjoyed it and in our short time (one beer) we attracted the attention of one interesting if ever so slightly eccentric local who in turn seemed interested in a passing young chap filming this then encouraged said young filming man to film one of the locals outside of the café at the bar, attracting the attention of further locals of this bar. The café is on a corner, it’s small but has a reasonable selection of beers a chalk board outside proudly displays it’s tap list (6) and mentions 30+ bottled beer offerings. We quite liked this bar, it is very close to the other places. Music selection was a bit eclectic as were those who frequented it, it is a nice old café. |
50 /100 De Klander Muelen (Bar) STATENPLEIN 149-150 We visited this place on Monday 28th September 2015. I hadn’t realised that this was even in the place ratings for Dordrecht until the following day and to be honest I am a little bemused as to why it has been added. Don’t get me wrong it is perfectly fine and for a snack (we had omelette and chips) it was great, but as a beer destination, mmhhh...I would probably walk into any number of other café bars in this town and find a better selection. We had Duvel which was the best of a very ordinary standard but small beery selection. It is situated on the corner of a large square of which three quarters of the buildings are rather drab mostly retail only the buildings to the left of this appear to have any real history. We sat outside in the sunshine, in fact this outside area, of which half is covered over, pretty much triples the size of this place. Inside it is a modern looking place geared up for those wanting snacks/meals than drinkers, though I am quite sure that you would be equally as welcome if you wanted just to have a beer, coffee, tea etc. Like I have alluded to its fine but it is not really a beery destination. |
86 /100 Café De Tijd (Bar) VOORSTRAAT 170 We visited Café Time on Monday 28th and Tuesday 29th September 2015 the Tuesday visit was after a very long bike ride. Loz had Orval and I had Brouwerij Ij Columbus (love this beer). Yesterday we sat outside, today it is even warmer but we are sat inside mainly to see what it’s like inside. This place is a short walk from the centre on one of the main shopping streets Vorstraat as the shops begin to peeter out and there is a mix of residential and shops. There is room for two tables outside which jut out onto the pavement and then two benches opposite. Inside a selection of round and square tables many of them marble offer room for about 50-60 people in a good sized rectangular room. The wooden floors looks like sheets of plyboard plenty of breweriania adorns the walls which also has one large apparently abstract splodgy painting and on the opposite wall (near where we’re sat) a large picture of four happy drinkers sat round a table drinking. This is the best place in Dordrecht (that we’ve found) by some considerable distance, it has a very large beer list with 130+ bottles and a good selection on tap. Staff very friendly and if you required any assistance I am sure that they would be very helpful. I am amazed at the previous ratings because this is a great bar. |
68 /100 In De Vergulde Lampet (Bar) STATENPLAATS 1 We visited The Gilded Lamp(et) on Tuesday 29th September 2015 after a very long bike ride, we certainly needed the Orval. It was a glorious late September day so we sat outside, though aside from the shade of a nature Horse Chestnut the view was a bit grim with modern buildings surrounding this old bar. Light sandy coloured small flemish bricks adorn the exterior of this corner bar. We were sat in the small patio area outside. Inside it is a small square shaped room toilets off to the LH side and bar further on in LH corner ahead of you. Beer choice isn’t amazing but hey they have Orval, Rochefort 6,8 and 10, Westmalle and Chimay. Quite a nice interior tables laid out for eating, to be fair this could be a restaurant/Café bar. We liked it, we needed it after a 25 mile cycle ride. |
54 /100 Café De Tijd (Bar) VOORSTRAAT 170 Nice ambience. A medium sized bar in an old building, but not dark. In fact, loads of marble here, a nice rack of vintage glasses and some metal advert signs of classic BBelgian beers. Owners are nice and the waiters are very kind and fast. Food is simple, but fast and of good quality.
The beer variety is moderate, but contains a wide array of styles... so there must be something you like. Within the traditional Belgian beers the best ones are represented (Orval, Rochefort, etc). Besides that there is a small but nice selection of local beers that are worth trying.
I will visit this place again! |
