“Nicely decorated place. Lots of character but I’m not sure what that character is! The cask ale selection was poor. Of the four guest hand pulls, three of them were off. Whoever manages this place needs a kick up the backside as this place isn’t a patch on the other JDW down the road. They proudly claim to be in the 2023 Good Beer Guide but I didn’t find any good beer in here. Come here for your Carling as there isn’t much else to drink. The most recent rating of this place was nine years ago. Things have changed.“

“One of the better Spoons outlets that doesn’t smell of stale beer. Rather spacious and tastefully decorated. Ten cask ales and unlike many Spoons these days it wasn’t mainly Doom Bar, Ruddles and Abbot! Usual macro beers. WiFi of course. Service was mixed. Plenty of people behind the bar all looking busy but not actually serving anyone. One of the better Spoons I’ve been in recently. I’d return if I lived locally.“

“A small, fairly impersonal bar with six macro beers and a couple of hand pulls, one of which was off when I visited. There is a nice patio area out front which gets busy on a sunny day, but there is nothing here beer wise.“

“A large, somewhat noisy sports bar with 12 macro keg beers and two cask ales. Nice view of the back harbour at sunset but that’s where it ends really.“

“A very plush, expensively decorated bar on the ground floor of the Enterprise shopping centre. They have 10 quality taps and a small can/bottle selection. Friendly, helpful service. On the day I visited I was the first customer and the bar staff poured off the first beer from each tap that had spent the nice in the pipe which was a nice touch and shows their commitment to quality. I will certainly return. Very reasonable prices.“

“A small, but nicely decorated craft bar in the centre of town. Just six taps but a stellar can and bottle selection including all the latest beers from Beak. Super friendly hosts and working WiFi. Perhaps the best place In Eastbourne. Nice little patio out front. Dog friendly.“

“A nice old skool boozer close to the seafront. Recently refurbished when I visited with new carpets and furniture. Oak panelled walls and wallpaper. Very ornate! Just the three cask ales plus a few macro beers on keg. Awesome food though at reasonable prices. Not a great beer destination but worth stopping by, especially if you are hungry. Working WiFi and friendly staff.“

“A little off the main shopping area but fairly close to the bus and rail terminals this is a new venture in a converted shop. There are seating areas to the front, in the bar and on an upstairs mezzanine. Friendly and welcoming with an excellent choice of key keg taps, some local some from further afield. Good opening times for the beer hunter, more of a rarity these days. Probably the top choice now in Eastbourne.“

“Large Wetherspoons right at the main bus drop off point. Big and busy on a Friday morning, roughly 12 hand pumps in operation. Over officious staff with Napoleon complexes. Not one to return to.“

“Visited 10/10/2018. Prime location on a corner plot just across from the beach and very close to the pier. Had 3 different Beer Me beers on tap to that which I had just seen at the Soup Shack (4 in total), and a large selection of mainly Belgian bottles though again none of their own were available (only a guess but given how many full bottles there were on display at Soup Shack that were not for consumption I'm thinking they have had an issue with their bottling process). But their Tap beers here at the source were decent and completing the flight of 4, I had the Saison which I'd just had at the shack but it seemed better here at the cafe. Service was very good. Benefits from outside seating which gets the full afternoon sun. Should seek this out if wanting Beer Me brewery beers.“

“Visited 10/10/2018. Mainly a cafe specialising in soups but have some beers on tap, mostly from Beer Me but also a couple from other local breweries. Tap board promises a lot and looks the part with 10 taps but selection isn't that broad (only 5 on) and there were no bottles for sale whatsoever -dozens from Beer Me on display but they were display only! Offer flights of 4 for £5. Note they open at 9 but are only licenced to serve alcohol from 11.“

“Found this little pub along the busy Seaside Road in Eastbourne. The owner and the waitress was very nice and friendly, but unfortunately I couldn’t enjoy our visit there. There was no TLC in this pub, no welcoming, no nice interior, no charme and no atmosphere. The terrace was like a starving child with no hopes - awful tables re-shining the sun in your eyes, not cleaned and with the chairs leaned against the tables, weeds etc. But this all, not even the drunkards hanging around, would have been that bad when the beer would have been ok. But it wasn’t! Odered a Doom Bar and it was draught in room temperature (even warmer!), very flat and very sour. My mood completly went to point zero when drinking the first sip of the Doom Bar. Would never come back to this place.“

“One of the most derelict places I have seen in the UK so far. Staff was very friendly but similar to the things you read in the web this pub is really a hotspot for the local drinkers. Ugly look, ugly furniture, nice staff, selection was ok. Hat my first caffrey there. The doom bar on tap was warm and sour. This means a lot. Mind that location please.“

“Maybe the most busy pub of my whole life so far. Very fine selection of ales as this one is a free house.Fine atmosphere, nice furniture but in the end the beer selection hits my points.“

“This one is quite big and busy but the staff stayed friendly. Nice selection of lagers and ales - hitting points. Chips were ok, toilets old style but clean. I liked the furntiture etc. therefore I would recommend that one.“

“Comfy and charming pub in Eastbourne, situatated beside a busy main road. The interior is very charming and dark wooded - a place to relax. Some locals beer were on tap, some big ones as well. Service very friendly. Would come back.“

“Pub is just opposite of the main train station of Eastbourne ( or at the end of the pedestrian shopping area). The selection of taps is great, some locals and some specials. Waiter was friendly and we had our pints outside to enjoy the sun. Didn’t find it too nice and welcoming inside, but honestly I didn’t have a good look into every corner. Would come back again.“

“Busy and lively pub at the beginning of Eastbournes pedestrian area. Parking situation probably very bad. It has got a dark wooded interior but is very lightflooded and modern in a comfy way. Many tourists around during lunch time. Some nice cask ales were available and the food was quite nice as well. Little bit too busy to be able to fully relax but nevertheless it was a nice visit.“

“Average one with an average atmosphere and more than average selection of those big lagers tou get everywhere. Got there that Greene King IPA on cask. Did not try the food. Due to their specials it was packed full of children with their smoking mommies. Bit disappointing.“

“This pub lies just across the Arlington Arms in eastbourne. There is free parking for customers beside the pub. Nice building from outside and also not bad inside - but the terrace is just awful. Forget about all the noisy kids running around ( they offered a 1 GBP deal to feed the kids for lazy mums who cannot cook at the summer holidays) and the mums smoking like mad beside them - this all doesn’t really matter. The pub just hasn’t got an atmosphere or character and not even good beers on tap ( the only "proper" one was Greene King IPA) .Would never come back.“

“The pub lies along the second busiest road in Eastbourne and is hard to miss. Parking situation is not perfect. The customers are mainly locals in the late 50s. Hoped to find more beer from Harveys on tap - unfortunately it was only one on tap available, but also three bottles of this brewery ( found their Christmas Ale there in August! [of course I know that it is a leftover from last season]). The waitress was very nice and kind and we were able to sit outside at their big terrace. Charming but not that charming that I would come back. Enjoyed the stay.“

“First Harveys pub so far. Had one on tap and three in the bottle beside those everywhere to get Lagers. Easy going atmosphere, mostly seniors taking their pint. Did not try the food, but service was nice. Beer garden was nice, too.“

“A Greene King pub nearby a really busy road which makes sitting outside quite tough. Nice range of Greene King beers. Staff alright, did not try the food. Was ok for me try some not known casks.“

“Went there after a long walk along the seaside parade as it was easy to be found, just at the Parade. Parking is surely a difficult thing there. Two waitresses behind the bar, not that friendly but ok. Found three new beers there, all from Greene King as it is a Greene King pub. There are some tables outside to enjoy the sun but altogether it is not a very welcoming and charming pub. Misses character and atmosphere.“

“Busy and loud pub just at the Marina in Eastbourne. Large place with a big terrace looking at the Marina. A lot of different taps but just nothing special on it, means, nothing local or seasonal, just the big brands, crafts and stouts. Unpersonal atmosphere, but nice and charming furniture. Would not come back due to the lack of special ales.“

“An easy going place nearby the arena. Nice service, reasonable prices but a very simple range of beers which means: Three worldknown pissy lagers, Guinness and just one very good regional Ale from Long Man, East Sussex. Only to recommend because of its fine marina view and that fine hopped piwo. Did not try the food.“

“Small bar at the Waterfront in Eastbourne Marina. It was a budy and crowded day around but in the bar it was quite quiet and not that busy. Actually, I didn’t feel very comfortable going to the bar because all the guys sitting there were watching like mad as if there would never have been a woman coming in. The bartender was nice and fast anyway and the prices standard. Unfortunately there are only one to two local taps available ( Long Man Brewing), the rest is filled with mainstream lagers and Guinness. Would not come back, only because of the special beer.“

“Situated as one of four pubs on South Street, a short walk south of the railway station, this is a very popular ground floor pub with an attractive outside, although it limits patrons to ten standing in front given there’s little room between it and the road. There is a beer garden at the rear though to compensate. Inside there’s two defined area to the left and right but both are pretty much the same, although the open fire makes turning left a more attractive option. The decor fits in with the older world charm of the place and its a more than comfortable place to frequent. The people of Eastbourne do pack it out and although not exclusive, there is certainly a younger majority in here that makes it standing room only if you reach this place too late at the weekend. The bar straddles both areas and as well as a Greene King ale there should be a couple of guests as well.“

“To the west of the main shopping centre and on the fringe of where the suburbs begin, Dolphin in the middle of South Street is a traditional pub in its appeal but with a fresher modernised appearance and a focus on fine dining. The room at the back is probably the best place to eat, but it’s fine to drink in their too, and given how popular this place is the tables there will fill up with drinkers at some point. There are two rooms at the front of the building, open plan and the bar straddles both, although all the pumps are at the front section. Local ale from Dark Star brewery seems to be the landlords preferred choice.“

“Situated a good ten minute walk away from the seafront areas in the Old Town area of Eastbourne slightly up a hill this is a very popular pub in a Tudor style timber building. It’s a little more updated inside but it retains enough older world charm about it to make it an excellent place to drink or dine and the locals vote with their feet to frequent this place too. There’s three differing room to choose from with the bar separating the two main action areas. The third room is slightly more contemporary but ends in a large lovely open fireplace. Harvey’s Ales are on offer.“

“Possibly the best option of all the pubs in the seafront area. This one is located on the main road behind the promenade, about five minutes walk eastward of the pier. Inside it is open plan on a split level with the bar on the raised section in the middle of the pub. It’s colour throughout is a very warm red with a combination of its decoration and soft lighting and its very cosy for it, especially with the roaring open fire in winter. Add to this the comfortable furniture and it can feel like a country lodge. The back room is decorated the same but is the dining area with a more formal table plan to it. You’ll find Harvey’s Ales here.“

“The more identifiable Wetherspoon pub in Eastbourne with a very familiar look in layout and design, but no lesser for it. It’s just as popular and sports three rows of ale pumps, although some are duplicate. It has a slightly elevated area in the centre of what is an entirely ground floor space and there is a garden to the rear. It’s no more of less popular with the young or old.“

“Handy if you are staying in the Travelodge, if not it is set back from but visible from the promenade if you are walking east from the pier. Inside it’s a typical traditional layout for a British pub with a best side as you walk in with its soft furnishings and a bar side with wooden floors and two pool tables as well as being brightly lit. Ale choice is limited, maybe 3 or 4 pumps but brews you’ve seen and drank many times before. You can see the live football here and you might catch some live music if you come on the right night.“

“Has gone down the Wetherspoon route in terms of open plan, design and furniture, menus as well. In fact it does a pretty good job so it’s well worth a shout if you enjoy the aforementioned chain, although the real ale choice is slightly more limited. It is situated on the main pedestrian drag at the end of the commercial centre on the way to the seafront, but still far enough inland to ensure it’s sheltered from the wind off the English Channel. Late on at weekends its ambiance changes to attract a party crowd.“

“Although this is marketed as a Lloyds Bar, apart from the slightly plusher decor you wouldn’t be able to tell the difference if they had have labelled this a normal bar in the chain. It is set right across the road from the railway terminus so is busy throughout the day, although you’ll probably find a quieter corner if you want one on the upper level. There are two bars but ale drinkers are best ordering from the row of pumps down below.“
